Show IN OBSERVE THANKSGIVING DAY Specials Menus Provided at Commercial Alta and University Clubs Though it Is an accepted fact that an excuse of being at the tIle club does not goin gain any well regulated home even on Thanksgiving day all of the clubs of Salt SaIt Lake were well populated yes yesterday yest yesterday t rda and the spirit of conviviality and good cheer abounded At the Alta club which at times houses a representation of ot wealth that would make some unbelievers from the east stagger under the appreciation of vast fortunes the members held hold open house all day d y A dinner that would bring Joy to the heart of the epicure was served and following each service there was a good old time at various games or in conversation which mads mad madone madone one forget that outside there was cheerless weather The clubman was wasat wasat wasat at home Until late in the evening the I spirit of holiday pervaded the club Over at the University club a big dinner was served during the after afternoon afternoon afternoon noon and the remainder of the day was spent In the manner that college men usually find entertaining and In The Elks club entertained many a wayfarer yesterday Some of the vis belong in Salt Lake and have caught the club habit with such a grip that not even the ties tics that hat link them to home will drag them away on Thanksgiving day da Those from afar carrying carr the escutcheon of or the antlered herd were entertained royally For the member to whom the club typifies home the Commercial with Its cosy cheery atmosphere of or offered offered a n welcome and comfort espe aspe especially especially to the one otle who had no place else to o go From 2 to 8 Thanksgiving dinner was served In the main dining I hall and many of the club members with their families took advantage of ot I the elaborate and specially prepared I menu The dinner included the choice of the Thanksgiving season viands and anI delicacies and was tastefully prepared During the afternoon and evening the quiet observer of the holiday con tented himself with playing billiard cards or resting himself in the depths depth of a big lounging chair with one of or orthe the magazines magazine Here ere and there In the tho corners were groups of three or four tour who preferred chatting and swapping stories I Through the courtesy of Joseph E K Caine secretary of the Commercial club the newspaper men who cover the club in their daily dally work were the guests at dinner and made to feel that there was something more to Thanks Thanksgiving Thanksgiving Thanksgiving giving day for them than work I |
