Show ppoiotions Approved FARMINGTON Promotions Promo-tions have been approved for nine Davis County Library employees. THAT ACTION by the library lib-rary board should bring them more in line with salaries paid other county employees performing per-forming similar duties, said Library Director Jeanne Layton. The change will result in $5,411 more in salaries for those employees through Dec. 31. But attirition has decreased the staff by one fulltime and one parttime position and she said those positions won't need replacement. "EVER SINCE I have worked work-ed with the library (since 1960) we have had some inequities in salary," Miss Layton said. "Some of these were changed with the separation from the school district (in 1977) but some still exist, especially when compared to the county." Parttime employees are paid less for doing the same work as fulltime employees and some have done such work for many years, she explained. "The staff likes to feel there is an opportunity to move ahead. I think first and foremost we're trying to build an incentive incen-tive system and try to build it somewhere along' the county lines. Most of the staff realizes there are other departments with the same skills but they (library) are at a lower level." SHE SAID County Personnel Person-nel Director Earl King agreed with the action and added the increase could be covered in the budget, tb |
