Whew! a close one. JUNE 8TH Orioles 11 and Yankees 3. Oriole pitcher Jon Heath struck out 10, batted in 3 runs on 4 hits for 4 times at bat which included a triple. Mark Domm and Ray Palmer also had a good night at the plate. Mark was three for four with a double and three RBI's. Ray was two for three with a double. The Yankees have only been able to put it all together in one game so far, but with former all star Curtis Holt, and talented players like Jason Crane, Mark Bur-ningham, Bur-ningham, & Shane Davis they should be tough in coming games. JUNE 9TH Mets 6 and Orioles 1. Oriole pitcher Doug Wehrli allowed only one hit in 6 innings then Kent Haslam in relief in the 7th struck out two to allow no hits to cinch the win. Outstanding defensive play of the game came when Oriole left fielder David Larsen made a great catch on a line drive then doubled a runner at second base with a rocket throw from left field. JUNE10TH and 11th were rained out games and will be made up at a later date. June 12th: Angels 8 and Pirates 2. The Angels extended extend-ed their unbeaten season. The Pirates tried by loading the bases twice in the last two innings in-nings but strong pitching with timely strikeouts when it counted were overwhelming as Anppl hnrlprs Wnrt Mathews, Todd Beck and Kyle Morrell allowed only one hit, a single, to Pirate David Weseman. THE ANGELS look unbeatable unbea-table as they are six wins and no losses of the season, they have three batters Todd Beck, Todd Bertoch, and Jeff Moss who have not struckout all season. Dodgers picked up a win on a forfeit by the Giants who could not field a team for their make-up game. Braves 7 and Yankees 3. The Braves managed nine hits to the Yankees four. BRAVES pitchers Steve Caputo and Wade Jacklin teamed for a good pitching effort. Brent Holmes hit a timely single with the bases loaded and 2 out to contribute to the win.
