Show ' "BY DAVE WIGHAM Bountiful Police department depart-ment would like to warn the citizens of the community of an illegal 'rip-off that is happening hap-pening in the area. ALTHOUGH NO reportes have been received of the illegal operation in Bountiful there have been reports from Idaho, and now Salt Lake City on the crime. What happens is that a group of people, two or three, will contact an individual and explain to him that he will spray his roof with a protive solution that will protect that roof. THEY THEN inform the owner of the price of the spray job, usually around $400. Then when they get up on the roof they thought and go tell the owner that it will cost them more. What is sprayed on the roof is nothing more than watered down aluminium, which washes away with the first rain. THE REPORTS indicate that the type of people involved in-volved in this illegal spraying are described as either gypsys, Indian or Mexican. They have received reports that they drive new trucks and that one of them has a New Mexico license plate. Main victims of these people seem to be the older people of the community, who have been taken from anywhere between $400 and $900. , THE POLICE urge all citizens ci-tizens that are contacted by individuals or companies who desire to spray the roof to contact the nearest police station and check if the company com-pany or individual is a ligi-timate ligi-timate operation. The police also warn that they have received reports or complaints from people who say they received a phone call from someone stating that a loved one has been in a car wreck and seriously injured. IF YOU receive one of these sick calls the police suggest you call the hospital for confirmation before taking any action. |
