The Emery team dropped a 110 game to Uintah in 1973 and enabled enabl-ed the Utes to snap a 46 game losing streak. Union has won a number of first round games and Uintah qualified for the 3-A playoffs in 1985 and 1986, but they haven't achieved ( the number one goal a state championship. cham-pionship. Emery had a rotten football team back in 1973, but the townfolks and players didn't give up and 14 years later they are the best in the land of Utah. There is still hope for Uintah Basin teams to win a state championship champion-ship in the sport of football if they are willing to go through all the work and dedication to reach the number one goal. Playoff Winners Emery defeated Millard for the 2-A state crown when they scored all 23 of the points in the first quarter, Saturday Satur-day in Orem at Mountain View High School. The Spartans won the toss and elected to kick with the wind. Emery took advantage of a Millard fumble and three short punts to build a 23 point lead in the first quarter.
