Show ON CAMPUS Freebirds: World Burrito opens in Sugar House LEAH MILLER STAFF REPORTER Freebirds: World Burrito opened its newest location in Westminster on the Draw on Aug. 25. This Lynyrd Skynyrd and Harley Davidson inspired restaurant is the newest addition to the Sugar House community. The smell of freshly made burritos welcomes customers into the vibrant restaurant filled with stylish workers and the tunes of classic rock in the background. Customers can enjoy the view of the Statue of Liberty crashing through the wall on her Westminster themed Harley as they order. Freebirds uses only the best quality food. Employees rise early every morning to make all the ingredients fresh. Freebirds has one of the largest selections of stuffings for burritos; therefore, everyone can have a burrito that fits the flavors his or her taste buds crave. According to Judi Durboraw, the Local Marketing Director for Freebirds, the restaurant will serve only good quality food. Whether customers are vegan, vegetarian or love any kind of topping, there are options for everyone. Customers can enjoy anything from a burrito to a salad to nachos, all made to their liking. There are three sizes of burritos to choose from depending on the hunger level. The supermonster burrito is among the largest. Alan Fee, operations coordinator, said, The supermonster burrito can weigh up to 3 or 4 pounds. It all depends on what one fills it with. Talk about a big burrito! Freebirds was started by two hippie friends who sold food on the beach in Santa Barbara and it has grown into a restaurant with over 115 locations in over five states. Owner of the Utah locations, Chris said, Texas and California have most of the locations... the Sugar House location is the fifth in Utah. There are more expected to open in Utah within the next couple of Beck-McKa- y, years. On top of making delicious food, Freebirds gives back to the community that it cares so much about. We want to be part of the Sugar House community, Beck-McK- ay said. It is important to give back. Each Freebirds location fundraises for different charities of its choice. Freebirds has made Westminster a large part of the Sugar House location. There are currendyl2 students said that she loves working there and Beck-McKhaving student employees. She even makes sure that they still have enough time to get all their homework done. Next time students feel like eating a burrito, nachos or a great salad, they can give Freebirds a try. Enjoy outdoor seating, a view of Sugar House Park and great food with friends.
