Show RESULT OF A PRACTICAL JOKE. jvfan JSeeomes Insane and Shoots N'ine of His J'ellow Workmen. Beaver Dam, Wis. , Nov. 2. Adam Hamer, employed in the machine shops of the J. S. Powell Manufacturing Company, became insane yesterday and shot nine men before he was safely behind be-hind the bars. Hamer has long been regarded as " peculiar." and was the butt of a number of jokes by his fellow fel-low workmen. Yesterday one of the men placed a tack in Ilamer's chair, and after sitting upon it, he went to a near-by gun store, rented a shot gun, and, taking up his posi tion south of the main building of the plant, kept everyone at bay for an hour, and shot nine of the employees through the windows. Finally Lieutenant Arthur T. A. Tib-belts Tib-belts of company K, Second regiment, who has a reputation for good marksmanship, marks-manship, was selected by the marshal to shoot him in such a manner as tc bring him down'without killing him. Lieutenant Tibbetts shot Hamer in the right shoulder with a 3?-ealiber rifle, when he dropped. He was quickly arrested ar-rested by the marshal and taken to the lock-up, where his wounds were dressed. They were found to be no serious. |
