Show Miss Fern Chadburn and Howard Carter Marry In St. George L. D. S. Temple Married in the St. George Temple at high noon, March 21st, were Miss Fern Chadburn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Chadburn of Veyo, and Howard H. Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Carter of St. George. Pres. Harold S. Snow officiated in the presence of a large group of relatives and friends. Both are students of the Dixie junior college and since graduating graduat-ing in 1939, Mr. Carter has filled an L. D. S. mission in Canada. Returning shortly before Christmas, Christ-mas, he secured employment in the defense operations of Salt Lake City and Ogden, coming home Friday in preparation for the Saturday marriage. Following the Temple ceremony the couple were honored with a family dinner at the home of the groom's parents. ' For this the bride wore her wedding gown, a full-skirted floor-length model of sheer white silk organza, with a corsage of pink carnations and white sweet peas. Mr. and Mrs. Carter' left early Saturday evening for Salt Lake City, where they will reside for the present. The bride's going away ensemble was of black silk and wool with button trim and self material and white lace collar, col-lar, and matching accessories. On Thursday evening the groom's mother, Mrs. Ralph Carter, assisted as-sisted by her four daughters, Mrs. Ray Larson of Washington, Mrs. Orval Lamoreaux and Miss Barbara Barb-ara Carter of St. George and Mrs. Lothair Mangum of Springville, entertained a large group of relatives rela-tives and friends at a miscellaneous miscellan-eous shower at their home, honoring hon-oring the bride. The program included in-cluded vocal and piano selections by Mrs. Rayola Anderson of Cedar City; readings by Mrs. Mattie W. Ruesch and Mrs. Clara Burgess; and vocal solos by the groom's nieces, Dorothy Ann Larson of Washington and Mar Jeanne Lamoreaux Lam-oreaux of St. George, followed by serving of lunch and opening of the many beautiful gifts. |
