Show Mr. and Mrs. John II. Riding Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary Oct. 16 Mr. and Mrs. John H. Riding celebrated cele-brated their Golden Wedding on Wednesday, October 16, with a I dinner for immediate family mem- bers at their home at noon, and afternoon open house to their many relatives and friends, and a dance at the South ward chapel in the evening. The nearly 100 people who called call-ed on them during the afternoon were shown wedding presents given the couple at the time of their marriage fifty years ago. There was also a lavish display of Mrs. Riding's handiwork including in-cluding crocheted and knitted lace, embroidery, and a dozen pieced quilts of many patterns, both in quilting and piecing. She reports having made mare than 69 quilts, one of these on display being pieced from scraps left from the 98 silk shirts she has made, and another is a friendship quilt pieced from silk dresses of her own and her friends. Fifty-five couples were entertained enter-tained at the dance in the evening eve-ning and many friends brought gifts both during the afternoon and evening. |
