Show Sgt. Ernest Arthur Pickering Jr. Dies Tuesday, April 17th The casualty toll for this week lists Sgt. Ernest Arthun Pickering Jr. of Enterprise. A telegram received re-ceived by his parents Saturday forenoon for the War Department said he had been wounded in action in Germany April 10. A second telegram later the same day, reported his death, April 17. Born in Enterprise Oct. 21. 1919 Sgt. Pickering was a son of Ernest Ern-est Arthur and Mary Winsor Pickering. Pick-ering. He graduated from Enterprise Enter-prise high school in 1938 and was inducted July 14, 1942. He trained at Camp Carson, Colo., Shreve-port, Shreve-port, La., Camp Roberts, Calif., and Camp Butner, N. C. going overseas in Jan. 1945. He was home on furlough in October, 1944. Surviving besides his parents are two sister, Mrs. Marie Dodds of Glendale, Calif.; Leah Pickering of Enterprise; three brothers, Wil-lard Wil-lard Pickering of Enterprise; Pvt. Wendell Pickering of Camp Roberts, Rob-erts, Calif.; and Anson Perry Pickering S 1c, somewhere in the Pacific. |
