Show FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN SALT LAKE Mi-s. Annie Woodbury Romhey passed away in Salt Lake City last Tuesday night at the age of 71 years. She had been ill since January Jan-uary 4 and last Thursday night pneumonia set in causing her death. Mrs. Romney came to Dixie with her parents when very young and was raised here. She was prominent promi-nent in church affairs, having been the first local president of the Y. L. M- L A. and taught school for a number of years. She was always popular and being outstanding in dramatics took part in many plays given here at that time. In 1877 she was married in the St. George temple to Miles P. Romney. Rom-ney. He held many public positions posi-tions including county attorney and county superintendent of schools. A few years after their marriage they moved to Arizona and later to Mexico where they resided until the death of Mr. Romney 24 years ago. She then moved to Salt Lake. She was the mother of eight children, chil-dren, six of whom are living. One son Erastus Romney, passed away In St. George ten years ago while president of the Dixie College. The children are: Mrs. Nathan C. Clay-son Clay-son of Lake Shore, Utah, Mrs. Ed-mond Ed-mond Richardson of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Erma Haymore of Salt Lake City and Orin N. and Frank Romney Rom-ney and Mrs. Wilford Farnsworth of Colonia Dublan, Mexico. Seven brothers and six sisters also survive. They are John T. Woodbury of St. George, Frank B. of Salt Lake. Charles of Hinckley. Angus of Burley, Idaho, Abram of Mesquite, and Joseph and Clarence who reside in California: Mrs. Geo. W. Worthen. Mrs. M M. Harmon, and Mrs. Hyrum Leany of St. George, Mrs. R.ose Bingham and Mrs. Elizabeth Forthingham of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Eleanor Jarvis of Cedar City. Funeral arrangements have not ; as yet been made. j |
