Show Funeral Services Held For Walter Byers Thurs. . Funeral services for Judson Walter Byers, who died Thursday Jan. 27. with quick pneumonia, were held in the Tabernacle on Thursday at 4:00 under the direction direc-tion of Bishop Vernon Worthen of the St. George West Ward. George F. Whitehead, the first speaker told of the association he had enjoyed with the family and the interest they had always taken in church work. He spoke of the life before we came here, the importance im-portance of our missions and the blessings that we might enjoy by proving faithful to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Patriarch George W. Worthen talked on the Plan of Salvation and quoted from the scriptures regarding it. He also paid tribute to the life of Brother Byers as a husband and father and a Latter-day-Saint. Pres. William O. Bentley told of the kindness of the family to Missionaries Mis-sionaries in the field and the active ac-tive part the children were now-taking now-taking in Missionary work in Detroit and other Eastern cities. He paid high tribute to the life of Judson Byers as he had known him and to his wife and family. Musical numbers consisted of three numbers by a quartette composed com-posed of Mr. and Mrs. Howard, Miss Ruth Winsor and Otto Fife, "Prayer Perfect", "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "Going Home" and a vocal duet. "My Father Knows" by Mamie Paxman and Viola Gentry. Prayers were offered by Isaiah Cox and Grant Whitehead and the grave in the city cemetary was dedicated by Pres. W. W. Mc-Arthur. Mc-Arthur. Three children, Shirley, Vera and Judson were unable to attend the services because of their employment em-ployment in the East. A son, Walter, Wal-ter, and a daughter, Ina, in company com-pany with a friend from Detroit were present. Mr. Byers was born and reared in Dallas City, 111. instead of Dallas Dal-las City Michigan as stated in the paper last week. |
