Show Drugs, Brains, Labor On Challenge Agenda serving as the chairman of the Department of Landscape Architecture Architec-ture and Regional Planning, has written numerous publications on architectural psychology in which he has tried to promote greater use of open lanscape in the cities. He sees a need for man to retain his natural surroundings instead of destroying the plant life to make room for expansion in urban areas. Assistant Secretary of Labor Esther Peterson, architect Ian Mc-Harg Mc-Harg and brain research specialist Abel Lajtha will present their respective re-spective views on "Man Against Himself" during Challenge Week next week at the University. Dr. Lajtha, director of the New York Institute for Neurochemistry and Drug Addition, will center his remarks on the effect of drugs on the brain. A native of Hungary, Dr. Lajtha has served" on college staffs in Budapest, Italy and England before be-fore coming to the United States where he has held positions at Columbia University and with various var-ious New York State medical departments. de-partments. , Labor Standards 1 Esther Peterson has served in the nation's capitol as assistant secretary of labor since 1961 when she was appointed to her position by the late President Kennedy. In this capacity Mrs. Peterson has the responsibility for most of the labor standards activities of the U.S. Department of Labor. Mrs. Peterson became active in the field of labor in 1948 when she participated in several international conferences and established working work-ing relationships with women leaders lead-ers of the labor movement in Europe. Eur-ope. At this time she went overseas over-seas with her husband who served as labor attache in Sweden and Belgium. Kennedy Appointment After taking the labor position under un-der President Kennedy, Mrs. Peterson Pet-erson received an additional assignment assign-ment from 1964 through 1967 to serve as special assitant to the President for Consumer Affairs and as chairman of the President's Committee on Consumer Interests.
