A tour of the Queen Mary in Beach Harbor, plus trips aboard a jet, made for the threesome a pleasant and most enjoyable trip. have chosen November wedding date. convention hosted by local clubs Fall The former Susan Dale Romans of Arnold, Neb., became the bride of Clyde Rhoades September 1 3 in a ceremony held in the Salt Lake LDS SEPTEMBER RITES Susan Dale Romans became the bride of Neil Clyde Rhoades in a Salt Lake Temple ceremony Sept. 13. Susan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Romans of Arnold, Neb., and Clyde is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Rhoades, Tabiona. A reception honoring the newlyweds was held in the Tabiona ward the same evening. The bride was lovely in a floor length gown of chantily lace, with a cascade of liny sheared ruffles down the back, and long full cuffed sleeves with tiny buttons. She wore a shoulder length veil of illusion, with a band of seed pearls forming her head band. She carried a of a gardenia bouquet consisting surrounded by white daisies and blue corn flowers, with ribbon of white and blue. She was attended by her sisters, Cynthia, Nancy and Phyllis Romans, and a girl friend from Los Angeles. The young ladies were dressed in floor length gowns of aqua colored chiffon, princess style with ruffled pickels, and carried e bouquets, similar to the bride. Ervin Rhoades, a brother of the groom, served as best man. The bride's mother was dressed in a gown of brown jersey with gathered waist and full skirt. The bride's grandmother was dressed simularlv. They wore corsages of aqua and white. The groom's mother and grandmother wore floor length gowns of aqua polyester in a princess style and wore gardenia corsages. The cake was four tiered, seperated with white pillars. It was decorated all in white with sugar bells and doves and topped with three wedding bells. The cake was made by Ina Van Tassell. Twilla Rhoades was in charge of gifts with tiny Kriss and Kim Wall in blue dresses caring for the gifts. Enid Wagstaff, Pat Burt and Velda Young were in charge of serving, with Sue Gines, Penny Jones, Teena Fabrizio, Amy Giles and Karen Roberts assisting. Norman Wall was master of ceremonies for a program consisting of a musical selection from Norma Turnbow, and two numbers by Cynthia Romans. Breakfast was enjoyed by members of the wedding party following the temple ceremony. A reception was also held in the LDS church in North Platte, Neb., Sept. 28. TttiartM IlMHMM Cindy Larsen and Terry ROMANS - RHOADES WED Pacific cruise recently arrived home from a two month vacation trip. They accompanied their daughter in law, Sue Whitehead and four children home to Juneau Alaska. They went by way of Glacier National Park, seeing Lake Louise. While in Alaska the men enjoyed salmon fishing and geese hunting. They spent four days in Spokane Washington with brother Jim and wife Amelia, and took in the Expo and the county fair. They also stopped a few days in Caldwell Idaho to visit with friends and Mrs. Whiteheads brother, Arvin. Association was held at the home of Diane Hardy Thursday the 26th. Officers for the coming year are as follows, Judy Johnson, President, Diane Hardy, vice president, Mary Lee Burton, secreatary, Eleanor Marshall, treasurer, Pat Stringham, reporter, Diane Johnson, Pat Jensen, advertising, and Carol Cory as program chairman. Programs for the coming year, and activities were discussed. The next meeting will be held Thursday October 24 at 8 p.m. at the home of Pat Stringham. The program will be on voice and will be presented by Ann Daughtry, Murell Johnson, and Pat Stringham. Anyone interested in joining UMTA or visiting, are welcome. Pants from good-lookin- Friendship club held Oct. 2 On October 2, May Wilson entertained members of the Friendship Club at their hi monthly meeting. 10 members were present. A salad luncheon was served, and progressive bingo played. Members of the Uintah Basin District, Utah Federation of Womens Clubs gathered at the Frontier Grill, Roosevelt, for their annual Fall Convention. Special guests for the occasion were, Mrs. Elmer A. Klitgard, President UFWC, the Mrs. LeNore Killpack, and junior sponsor 3rd UFWC. Themes and guidelines for the present administration were the topic of discussions by Mrs. Klitgaard while Mrs. Killpack talked on membership. The slate's goal is double membership. Martha Leona Riding, District president conducted the meeting and introduced special guests. Each of the eight clubs in the district were asked to present and honor a special lady from the community who had contributed to the progress of that community. Roosevelt's Culture Club honored Mrs. Ernest Roberts for her very devoted and unselfishness in the course of her work at the Snyders Convelescant Villa. She was honored by Ellen Rawlings. Socialette Club honored Mrs. William (Kay) Trowbridge as a past president, church and active community person. She was presented by Mrs. Bryce Green. Each lady was given a certificate by the district and a centerpiece from each of the tables. Other state officers in attendance were Mrs. Lon A. Logan, Ft. Duchesne, UFWC Parliamentarian, and Mrs. Bryce Green, jr. chairman, fine arts department. D. 1 , Bastick for their LARSEN, BASTICK ENGAGEMENT NEWS ANNOUNCED The engagement is announced this week of Cindy Larsen, daughter of Eula Von Bastick, Roosevelt and Edwin J. Larsen, Duchesne, to Terry D. Bastick, son of Mrs. Edith Bastick, son of Mrs. Edith Bastick, Rising Star, Texas. The couple has chosen November 1 as their wedding date. Cindy graduated from Union high school with the class of 74 where she was active in the Friendship Club, Harliquin Players, Pep Club, FBLA Club, and was secretary of the Deca Club. Terry attended Cisco high school in Cisco, Texas. He served three years army duty in Germany, attended two years at Cisco Junior College and graduated from Tarleton State University, Stephenville, Texas, with a B.S. Degree in Industrial Arts Education. Terry is now employeed by Wyoming Mud Company Inc., where he is a consulting engineer. The couple plans to make their home in Roosevelt. Monday bridge held Oct. 7 Mrs. Ward Mulford hosted the Monday Bridge Club October 7. Guests were Mrs. Clair Larsen, Mrs. Marion Felter and Mrs. Robert Johnston. A bridge luncheon was served, followed by bridge. The prizes were won by Mrs. Larsen and Mrs. Ida Harrison. Les Femmes meet, welcome new member The Les Femmes club held their monthly meeting at the home of Dawnette Adamson hostess for the month of October. were Loya Nebcker and Marcia White. The program consisted of a demonstration on necklace making given by Bonnie Rryson. The club welcomed Adalee Wall, a new member to the club. Just A Mere held Oct. 3 Mrs. Lawrell Jensen hosted the Bridge Club, October 3 at her home. A dessert luncheon was served to twelve. The evening was spent playing bridge. Mrs. Clista Angus, Mrs. Vona Houtz, Mrs. Bessie Wardle and Mrs. Darrell Walker won the prizes. JusL-A-Me- g SNYDER CONVALESCENT VILLA Recently Mrs. Pearl Jenkins celebrated her 86th birthday and over one hundred of her posterity attended. A turkey dinner was served buffett style. The dinner was held at the Jr. Jenkins home. The Jr. Jenkins have a new granddaughter born at the Duchesne County Hospital September 29, she weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. and will be named Marsha. Other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Duncan of Neola. Great grandparent is Mrs. Pearl Jenkins. Visitors at the B.Y. Whitmores home over the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Rex Whitmore and friends from Ogden Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sharpies and Mrs. Nellie Hammerschmid of Midvale. While here Mrs. Hammerschmid fell and cut her head and had to have several stitches taken. Mrs. Hammerschmid is Mrs. Whitmores mother and is 84 years old. Last week Hilda Arnold traveled with her son, Lewis, in the interest of his work to Craig, Meeker and Rangely, Colorado. Lewis works for Imco Service Co. and is now living home with his mother. The past year he has been working at Coalville. Mr. and Mrs. Milo Newkirk of Temple City, California visited briefly at the Telintha Rasmussen home. They were on vacation touring some of the Western Stales. The Newkirks use to live here. Weekend guests at the Boyd Winn home were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Klingler of Sandy and Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Klingler of Colorado Springs, Colo. Mrs. Anna Johnson spent last week in Vernal caring for her daughter, Lorraine Woods, who has been ill. Mrs. Minnie Angus spent one day last week in Salt Lake doing geneology research. Mrs. Don Herbert returned home after spending five weeks at Thousand Oaks, California tending grandchildren while their parents Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rowley vacationed up the coast and into Canada. She then flew to Salt Lake and visited with children there for a week. Visitors at the B.W. Whitmores and Telintha Rasmussen home last week were Mrs. Margaret Moller of Atlantic Georgia and Valene Moller of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mrs. Mollar is Mr. Whitmores sister. Cecil Jenkins who underwent surgery at the LDS hospital in Salt Lake last week is recovering satisfactorily and will soon be coming home. Barta has been with him but came home Monday. lieah, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cook and Brent, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Baslian of Neola were married October 9th in the Provo LDS Temple. October 11th there will be a reception in the Ballard Ward Cultural Hall for them from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Jean Tryon and Rose Miller took the Cub Scouts and Wcbclos to see Butch home. It is near Casadeys Dinosaur National Monument.
