Show coordinating council organized at youth confab organization of a coordinating council was made at a meeting of the youth you th conference held in city hall last week this was the sec ond nd such meeting attended by peo pie interested in youth welfare in the community county agent A E smith again acted as chairman reports report S from various organizations were made a and n all agreed that more recreational adaill ti and mental activities are needed during the summer dr R W roskelley extension sociologist from the agricultural college was present at the meet ing in recent weeks he has been in attendance at many of these youth conferences in various parts of the state he stated that in one town about the size of tooele thoele there were over 60 youth organizations nit but less than 50 percent of the youth were members of any organ A need for more understanding between these groups and the youth they were serving could be readily seen miss fern shipley assistant state 4 11 II club leader also attended the meeting in her opinion more information about 4 11 club work should be placed before the people the extension service will try to to do just that in the near future the group decided that a still larger representation of youth organizations and parents were need e ed d to discuss this problem fully A motion was made that a committee of six be appointed to contact these people and decide when another meeting could be held those on the committee are C R evans chairman with A E smith mrs ralph bevan mrs harley porter valene valerie vance and bonnie civic ch church eh a and n d other organizations tarth eer lations w will ilar b be e c contacted 0 n s soon oon by members of this committee to enlist their aid in starting a definite coordinated programs of youth activities tivi ties in the county |
