" ' ' M J i Li- i - ' t - - - School District Approves Lone Peak for East Cedar Hills by Harlow Clark At its Nov. 9 meeting the Alpine School District board voted unanimously to open en-rollment at Lone Peak High School to Cedar Hills residents living east of Canyon Road. Board Member Chrissy Hannemann said by phone that several residents spoke in fa vor of the proposal at the board meeting and none of the board voted against it. Hannemann said the enroll-ment will start in the 2011-1- 2 school year for sophomores liv-ing east of Canyon Road and in-side the city limits. The enroll-ment will not be open to juniors and seniors. Hannemann told Cedar Hills' City Council Oct. 19 that the enrollments will start with 38 10th graders in 2011, in-creasing to "up to 124" by 2019. Residents wishing to en-roll should turn in an out of area transfer form during open enrollment January 15 through March 15,2011. In other business, Hannemann said, the board voted to make an exception to American Fork Jr. High's closed enrollment so that students who will be attending American Fork High can go there if they choose. November 24 Curbside Recycling Pick Up, South Route Thursday, November 25 Thanksgiving Day Friday, November 26 City Offices Closed Tuesday, November 30 NO City Council Meeting 86 East 100 South, 6 p.m. PG Council Discusses Landscaping on 2000 West 100 North During Work Session Pleasant Grove City Coun-cil discussed landscaping on 2000 West north of State St. to 1 100 North during the city coun-cil work session held Nov. 9, 2010. City Engineer Degen Lewis told the city council that they are planning the landscaping for 2000 West from State St. to 1 100 North. American Fork is doing the planning for the west side of the road and Pleasant Grove will be responsible for the east side of 2000 West. It was the suggestion of the city council that they let Ameri-can Fork lead the way as more of it is in American Fork. Then Pleasant Grove can follow with the American Fork plan so it all will look more uniform. All kinds of options were discussed but no decisions were made. The council in general felt that they would like to see more green with planter strips, sidewalk space and so forth . Degen will talk with the property owners in the area about their preferences but they want it to be consistent with what Amer-ican Fork does. In other matters, the first part of this meeting was devoted to a discussion on Social Media and Amplifying your voice. Holly Richardson led a discussion on this subject at the beginning of the council meeting. Holly noted that using so-cial media is easy, wide spread, and rapid for distribution of your messages. She said everyone can participate in public dialogue and everyone can become an opinion leader. She added that everyone can become an opinion leader. Many people get the news from their computer or other online methods. She listed online news sources, and social media, radio, newspaper, national television news, and local television news. Some of the popular tools are Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia, iphone, you tube, and more. She said that "Someone to tell it to is one of the fundamental needs to communicate." Holly told the council that she was willing to help the city with any of these tools if needed. CocT Pleasant Grove 2f,?- j j was obtained and it showed driver's Br.A.C. to be above the legal limit. She was cited and released for a misdemeanor DUI violation. The passenger in the vehicle was identified the same way and was found to have an active arrest warrant on her. She was arrested and released when she posted bail on the warrant. Police spoke with a female about a violation of a protective order. Officers found the sus-pect changed the victim's phone number to a different carrier and put it in his name. The suspect also violated a protective order. Police are waiting on further in-formation from the victim. On November 7 police re-sponded on a vehicle burglary and found that several tools were taken out of a construction van. The victim did not have the van locked and there is no sus-pect information at this time. An officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle and discovered the driver was DUI. The driver was arrested and later released on a citation without further in-cident. No further information. On November 9 an individ-ual reported some damage done to her vehicle. On November 10 an offi-cer was dispatched to a vehicle burglary. The officer made con-tact with the complainant at the police department and received . the details on the property sto-- . len from the vehicle. This case will be referred to detectives for further investigation. Police were dispatched to a theft detail. As police at-tempted to make contact, they realized this had occurred in Ltndon. Police referred this case to Lindon City Police. No further information. On November 10 officers responded to the business at the above location and took re-port of a retail theft that was alleged to have occurred by the suspect. The reporting party, who works for the business, observed the suspect on her way out of the store after ob-serving her conceal merchan-dise she did not pay for on her person. The reporting party provided a written statement and a copy of video footage of the incident. The suspect ad-mitted to having the merchan-dise on her person but said she forgot she had it. The suspect was cited and released for re-tail theft. On November 1 1 an officer was dispatched to an attempted theft. A report was was taken. The stolen item was returned to the owner. There is no sus-pect information. On November 4 officers re-sponded to a report of criminal mischief but upon investigation, determined it to be the theft of farm equipment. Photos were taken of the damaged and miss-ing equipment. There are no suspects and no evidence in the case. The case is being filed for information purposes only at this time. Officers investigated a traf-fic offense where one passenger was arrested for a valid arrest warrant and for heroin posses-sion and the second passenger was arrested for a valid arrest warrant. Police responded and took a delayed report on an auto bur-glary. The reporting party's wal-let with credit cards in it was sto-len. There was no forced entry and no damage to the vehicle. The reporting party had no sus-pect information. The burglary occurred the previous evening ' and the reporting party had driv-en it to school prior to reporting it so there was no evidence. A report is being filed for informa-tion purposes only at this point. Officers responded to a theft and spoke with an individ-ual who was reporting a delayed theft from some time between September 1 and October 1 . The complainant recently became aware of some possible suspect information and this is why he is now reporting the theft. An officer responded to a local business on reports of a juvenile female shoplifting from the store. The juvenile was detained by the store owner while police were en route. The juvenile was taken into custody and later released to her parents on a citation. No further action taken. An officer was dispatched to a delayed theft of a bicycle from a local grocery store. The officer met with the victim and the loss prevention agent for the store, who had video surveil-lance footage of the crime. The officer was provided a copy of the footage and the victim stat-ed he suspected the person in-volved was someone he knew at school. Contact was made with the suspect and it was confirmed to be the same person involved. He was then taken into custody and transported to the police de-partment. He was later released on a citation. No further action was taken. An officer was dispatched to a vehicle theft. A report was taken. Suspect information is in the report. On November 5 police re-sponded to the Pleasant Grove Police Department on a report of a stolen bicycle detail. Police contacted the re-porting party regarding a stolen MP-- 3 music player, reportedly stolen several days previous. Police were advised that the de-vice was owned by the victim but that he had borrowed it some time ago and it had since been stolen. The reporting party fur-ther reported that the victim had located it at a local pawn shop, however, when police responded to the pawn shop, the MP-- 3 play-er was not there. The reporting party said there are no suspects and because of the time delay in it being reported, there is no evi-dence. Attempts to contact the reporting party and the victim again to confirm the information have been unsuccessful. They have not returned messages left with individuals who live with them. Until additional informa-- " tion is developed, nothing fur-ther is being done with this case. . It is being filed at this point for information purposes only. An officer was dispatched to Macey's Food and Drug for two juvenile females in custody by loss prevention for theft. The of-ficer responded, issued citations to both individuals, and released them on scene to their fathers. On November 6, 2010, an officer responded to a residence in Pleasant Grove on a report of a male who threw a brick at an off-dut- y police officer's patrol vehicle. The individual was ar-rested for criminal mischief and released on citation. No further actions were taken. Officers checked two ve-hicles which were stopped and occupied on the side of the road-way, to offer possible assistance. Officers found the driver of one of the vehicles to have been con-suming alcohol and identified her by name and date of birth. Following administration of field sobriety tests, it was deter-mined the driver was impaired. There were four children in the first vehicle (non-suspe- ct ve-hicle) and at the request of their mothers, they were released with the driver of that car. The suspect vehicle was state impounded. A breath test Police made a traffic stop on a vehicle for no plate and light and unsafe lane travel. Officers also received prior knowledge regarding this same vehicle driving reck-lessly in another city. Offi-cers found the driver of the vehicle to be operating un-der the influence of alcohol and prescription medication. Police arrested the driver and released the vehicle to the sober registered owner who was present. Police cited and released the arrestee af-ter completing their investi-gation. On November 9 a theft detail resulted in one adult female being arrested for Communications Fraud. The female was booked into the Utah County Jail. On November 10 police re-sponded to a vehicle theft at Walmart. On November 4 an officer re-sponded to a report of a criminal mischief detail. The officer was advised an individual had wit-nessed a female throw rocks at a local business and flee on State Street. The reporting party at-tempted to follow the vehicle but the suspect drove too er-ratically for the reporting party to follow safely. The report-ing party was able to obtain a license plate off of the vehicle and a description of the car. The officer arrived in the area and was unable to locate the suspect vehicle. The officer was able to locate and speak with the owner of the business and found the value of the damaged prop-erty. On November 6 police were dispatched to a drug incident. Officers found a drug incident involving some found drug par-aphernalia and suspicious cir-cumstances occurred. The. offi-cers collected some information but were unable to correctly and legally identify a proper suspect for arrest purposes. Po-lice provided the complainant with some advice and informa-tion regarding her options on dealing with her several family members who are suspected to be using drugs.
