Show The Casual Critic by Daryl Austin 1 y w-j W ' -rT- fv'5 ' N A A. r-7 v" -v- ' ' ' M - Apparently mankind has proven over the centuries that we can't handle Free will, so an illusive illu-sive and seemingly all powerful guy known as 'The Chairman" manages a team of men in fedoras fe-doras to make the necessary adjustments ad-justments to make sure mankind doesn't screw up this world too badly. These guys make sure everything ev-erything goes "according to plan" and apparently David and Elise are not "meant" to be in each other's oth-er's life. But their efforts may not stop the star-crossed lovers from trying to rewrite their own plans and live life by their terms. While the premise of men not really having free will is interesting inter-esting and insightful, I had a big problem with being sold a story I initially loved so much, only to see it stunted and stymied in the last 20 minutes. I never say this about films, but I would have loved to see this story unfold more meaningfully meaning-fully over another 60 minutes rather than end the way it did. I must admit though, the chemistry between Damon and Blunt was palpable and their genuine performances per-formances held the film together. But you'd think a movie all about adjustments would have had the sense to adjust the ending that made a potentially great film, ordinary. or-dinary. Content: Moderate language and a scene of mild sexuality earn this film its PG-13 rating. Other Opinions: 769 "Average "Aver-age Joes" give "The Adjustment Bureau" a rating of 7.4 out of 10 while 164 professional film critics give it an average score of 70 percent per-cent out of 100 percent Should you see it? Yes. This is an interesting and entertaining movie that certainly attempts, to rise above the mediocre mess-ups that Hollywood has been serving up in huge doses lately. You'll at least want to give them an 'A' for effort. For more reviews by The Casual Ca-sual Critic please visit www.casu-alcriticmovies.com. "The Adjustment Bureau " Casual Critic Score: 7.5 out of 10 Release Date: March 4. 2011 Rating: PG-13 Length: 105 minutes Genre: Romance, Thriller "The Adjustment Bureau" drew me in and captivated me faster than any movie has in awhile. Starring Malt Damon (True Grit) as David Norris, and Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria) as Elise Sellas, "The Adjustment Bureau" is about how the two of them find each other through a world of chance and choice, when the world'around them seems to be controlled by pre-determined fate. |
