Show i : Glider event must use city water, says health dept. By Dave Johnson Sanitarian Utah Health Department Due to the urgency of providing an acceptable water supply to spectators luring the Hang Gliding meet, we are requiring the Chamber of Commerce to tiaul water obtained from m the Moab Culinary Water System. State Health regulations reg-ulations require that water for hauling to such events come from ' ' Approved ' ' sources. "Approved" sources are those that meet acceptable standard relating to chemical and bacteriologic quality as a well as proper construction, construc-tion, isolation from pollution pollu-tion sources, and maintenance. mainten-ance. We are further requiring that this water be clorinated when hauled to the various sites as a precautionary measure. The Chamber had previously pre-viously arranged to use water from a well of unknown quality. Use of such water is an invitation to problems. The Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce estimates esti-mates that 1,000 to 2,000 gallons per day will be adequate for the event. They will pay the City the usual customary charge for the water. By way of comparison, the City uses approximately approxi-mately 2 million gallons of water daily. |
