Joan Smith Plans Wedding With U.S. Airforce Man March 19 Of interest to Springville residents is the forthcoming marriage of Miss V. Joan Smith, lovely daughter of Mrs. Viola Smith, Salt Lake ' City. Miss Smith is also the daughter of Wayne P. Smith of Springville. I V. Joan will exchange nuptial vows with Bruce C. Scholer in rites to be solemnized March 19 at the home of the benedict-elects' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman A. Scholer, 2043 Redondo Place, Salt Lake City. The bride has ask John Y. Bearnson to perform the ceremony. Ted Scholer, brother of the groom, will stand as best man and Miss Dorothy Doro-thy Gerbich, modeling associate, will be sole attendant. A wedding supper for the bridal party and guests will follow. The bride's gown for the nuptial occasion is an original, designed by the bride and is an adaptation of the Empire -silhouette. Sandlewood tone faille sculptures a bodice of high standing V neckline and three-quarter three-quarter sleeves. The Empire inset delicately shapes and tapers, and extends below the normal waistline where a vast sweep of faille forms the circular ballerina length skirt. On the right side the skirt is cut up to reveal three beautiful matching nylon net ruffles. The headdress, also designed by the bride and created by Mrs. Flora Large, is a clip cap, of Sandlewood faille. The veil of matching net to correspond with the ruffles on the skirt, falls finger tip length. Sandlewood pumps will complete the ensemble. Mrs. Large has also created the beautiful idea of Miss Smith carrying a white Bible covered cover-ed in nylon net with a tiny ruffle roset on top revealing a beautiful Talisman rose bud. Four tiny ribbons of various length cascade from the Bible pages and in the loose knots tied near the end are tucked the Talisman rose buds from which the popular Salt Lake model has created colors and table decorations. Around the table centerpiece of the three-tWed cake, designed of Sandlewood tone with dainty slippers filled with Talisman roses at the base of the cake, are small place settings featuring a Talisman bou-tonniere bou-tonniere for the men and a Talisman Nosegay with nylon net circulets from the brides veil, for the ladies. Each is tied with brown ribbon to a small placecard envelope, enclosed with cards written "V. Joan and Bruce, March 19, 1954" in gold scroll. Brown fluted candles complete the mellow table setting. The future bride is a graduate of Springville High School, where she was prominent in scholastic activities, and is a former student of Utah State Agricultural College, Logan. While attending the USAC, she was a member of the ROTC Corps of Sponsors and was affiliated with Chi Omega Sorority. She is also a graduate of Ruth Tolman Professional Pro-fessional Modeling School. Mr. Scholer attended Brigham Young University and was a member mem-ber of the basketball and golf teams. He was also active in Bricker activities. At present, he is serving with the U. S. Air Force, holding the rank of Airman Second Class and is attending radar training school at Boloxi, Mississippi. He will be reassigned following his graduation grad-uation from the school on March 9, and will make a home for his bride at the new base. Among hostesses who will honor the charming bride-to-be will be Mrs. Robert B. Flygare, Mrs. Ramona Kensinger, and Mrs. Cecil Ferguson, Fer-guson, who will preside at a kitchen shower to be given in Springville. An aunt of the bride elect, Mrs. Eleanor Sheets, will entertain for the couple, and Mrs. Smith will be hostess at a dinner in honor of her daughter. |
