Hutchings Mr. and Mrs. Silas Hutchings Observed Fifty Years of Vedded Life Tuesday ' Mr. and Mrs. Silas E. Hutchings of this city observed their golden wedding anniversary on Tuesday of this week. While no special celebratoin was planned due to illness which has confined Mr. Hutchins to his bed the past seven months, Mrs. Hutchins and members of his family visited him at the Hardy Rest Home in Orem, where he is now staying. Mr. and Mrs. Hutchings were married in the Manti Temple, September 25, 1901 and both have been active in church work for most of their lives. Mr. Hutchings was born in Springville in 1882, a son of early-settlers, early-settlers, Carlos and Jane Barney Hutchings. In 1890 he moved to Elsinorc. He served as president of the Young Mens' Mutual Improvement Association and also as a teacher. He has followed the occupation of blacksmith most of his life including five years for the late Jessie Knight and eight years for the Reynolds Ely Construction Con-struction Co. , Mrs. Gatsey Hutchings was .born ,in Mt. Carmel, Kane County, in 1881, a daughter of Heber and Orissa Taylor Jolley. She moved with her parents to Washington county in 1891 and to Elsinore in 1898. She taught Sunday School for a number of years and also served ser-ved as a counselor in Primary and as a Relief Society teacher. The couple are parents of nine sons and daughters, three ol whom are still living. They are : Mrs. Reed (Lillian) Pierce of E! Segunda, Calif.; Loren Hutchings, who married Velma Stewart o! Springville; Bryant Hutchings, Springville; also a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mark (Sadie) H. Hansen of Spanish Fork; a son-in-law, Wendell Wen-dell Jones of Blanding. They have 20 grandchildren, 17 of whom are living and there are also seven great grandchildren |
