Show GlSewlyweds Honored At Loyely Reception The marriage of Miss Mozell Whitney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey A. Whitney, Sr., of Mapleton, and Wayne I. Braithwaite, Braith-waite, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Braithwaite of Salt Lake City, was solemnized at the home of the bride's parents in the early afternoon of Dec. 9, with Bishop Oscar Whiting of the Mapleton ward officiating. It was also the golden wedding anniversary of the bride's parents. A reception was held for the young couple at the Mapleton ward chapel the following Saturday Satur-day evening for about 250 relatives rela-tives and friends. During the reception hour, beautiful string music was furnished by students from the B. Y. U. at Provo. The bride was attired in a beautiful beau-tiful white taffeta gown with fitted fit-ted bodice, full skirt and train, and wore a pearl necklace and corsage of roses. Her fingertip veil was attached to a headdress of orange blossoms. The bridegroom wore his army uniform. He was recently given an honorable discharge from the Army after four years of service. A former technical sergeant in the bomb disposal unit of the ordnance ord-nance division, he served in the Panama Canal zone and during the past year was in the European theater. Tall candelabra in the form of Christmas trees, with jardineres of red and white flowers on each side, formed a beautiful background back-ground for the bridal party. In the receiving line were, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Whitney Sr., parents of ithejbridlq, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Whitney, brother and sis-er-in-law; also Miss Gwen Mendenhall, Men-denhall, maid of honor; Miss Esther Esth-er Houtz, bridesmaid, D. B. Bag-ley, Bag-ley, best man, and Mrs. Ardyth J. Festin and Mrs. Faye T. Con-der. Con-der. The entertainment at the reception re-ception was featured by a nicely arranged program with Aaron Mendenhall as master of ceremonies. ceremo-nies. Frank C. Robertson gave a toast to the bride and groom and a piano selection was given by Mrs. Lois Rasmussen. Mrs. Oliver Oli-ver Dalton and Mrs. E. S. GroeS-beck GroeS-beck entertained with two vocal duets, accompanied by Mrs. Belle Thomas. Dr. Alonzo Morley of the B. Y. U., gave a reading, and Miss Veloy Singleton of Provo gave a vocal solo, accompanied by Mrs. Ramussen. Refreshments were served at small tables in the recreation hall and they were arranged in the form of a V, with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the background. Adding to the attractive room and table decorations, was a lovely love-ly three-tiered wedding cake in Christmas colors. The guests were served by nieces of the bride and groom. The couple is residing in Salt Lake City. |
