Show ' Measom-Kelsey Wedding Lovely Social Event a . r Among interesting social events of the past week was the marriage mar-riage on Wednesday evening of Carl Measom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Measom of this city, and La Verne Kelsey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elrey E. Kelsey of Spanish Fork. The marriage took place at the home of the bride's parents in Spanish Fork, with President Henry A. Gardner performing the ceremony in the presence of the two immediate families. The bride was attractively dressed dres-sed in a navy blue silk sailor suit with white braid, matching the uniform of the groom. A georgeous basket of red carnations, white sweet peas and fern tied with a blue ribbon, formed an appropriate decorative feature for the wedding. After their marriage, the young couple were honored with an informal in-formal reception to which members mem-bers of the two families were guests. Also an officer on the sunk ship Northampton on which Mr. Measom was a seaman first class, attended the wedding and gave an interesting talk on their experiences experi-ences in battle. A musical program was enjoyed and delicious refreshments refresh-ments served. Mr. Measom plans to leave about February 4, for Boston, Mass., where he is to report for duty. His bride will remain in Spanish Fork. MRS. W. L. SCimEINER WAS HOSTESS to members of the Alpha Beta club at her home last Friday afternoon. af-ternoon. Ray Hales, and the club topic on Christopher Columbus, Co-lumbus, given by Mrs. C. G. Russell. Rus-sell. , The book review portrayed an outstanding chracter. The book places emphasis on his accomplishments accom-plishments as a silversmith and of his contributions as such to this country. Mrs. Russell, in her paper, stated among other interesting items that Columbus' final resting rest-ing place was in Seville, Spain. Also featuring the program was a piano solo, by Mrs. Alice Erick-son. Erick-son. At the close of the entertainment, entertain-ment, tasty refreshments were served by the hostess. |
