Brown who have been married fifty years on Saturday, December 11. f Mr. and Mrs. I. S. Brown of this city will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary an-niversary of their marriage by going through the Salt Lake temple tem-ple on Friday, and with an open-house open-house reception on Sunday, Dec. 12, from 2 p. m. until 8 p. m., at their home atx310 East, First So. street. , On Saturday evening a family party will be given at the family residence. All relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Brown are invited to attend the reception in honor of their golden weddin anniversary, anniver-sary, on Sunday. Isaac S. Brown was born in Springville on Dec. 21, 1870, a son of Edward R. and Mary Taylor Brown. He has always lived here and has taken an active part in civic and religious affairs. Mr. Brown was a member of the first volunteer fire department in Springville. For a number of years he operated a retail meat and grocery store in this city and later lat-er engaged in farming. He served for approximately 25 years as Sunday school superin-tenden superin-tenden in the Fourth and First wards. He has served as chairman of the Genealogical committee in the Fourth ward and has for many years been interested in genealogical genealog-ical work. He holds the position of a Seventy in the church. Mrs. Emma E. Metcalf Brown was born in Gunnison, April 12, 1874, a daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth Sanford Metcalf. Like her husband, she has led an active life and taken part in various community com-munity and church activities. At the time of the organization of Religion Re-ligion class work here, she served as president. She was assistant secretary in the Fourth ward Relief Re-lief Society and has been a teacher teach-er in both the First and Fourth ward Relief Society organizations for a number of years. She is a member of Camp Springville Daughters of Utah Pioneers. The couple were married Dec. 11, 1883, at Gunnison and received their endowments in the Manti temple the following year. They had planned to celebrate their golden anniversary by again going through the Manti temple but due to travel restrictions, will go to the. Salt Lake temple on Friday. They are parents of eight sons and daughters with seven living, as follows: Guy Brown, Bird Brown, and Mrs. Lola Weight of Springville; Paul Brown and Jess Brown of Provo; Mrs. Clara Niel-son Niel-son of Spanish Fork and Glen Brown of Fountain Green; also twenty-three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. |
