The wedding took place on December 29, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Childs in Salt Lake City and was fol-lowed by a reception attended ! by a large number of relatives and friends from Springville. The newlyweds are making their home in Colorado Springs where Roger, a graduate of the Springville high school has been attending school and where he is presently employ-ed. i ..... ' ,,,s,;y ,; ..... .., Miss Deanne McBride of Los Angeles, Calif., who will be married to L. James Ottesen of Springville, in the Los Angeles Temple February 4. L. James Ottesen Chooses Bride; To Wed in Los Angeles Temple Miss Deanne McBride will exchange vows with L. James Ottesen in the Los Angeles Temple on Tuesday, February 4. The announcement of their engagement was made by the parents of the bride-to-b- e, Mr. and Mrs. Clif-ton R. McBride of Manchester Ward, South Los Angeles Stake. Deanne is a native Californian where she graduated from George Washington High School and attended the University of Southern California. She is presently employed as a full-tim- e, secretary at the LDS Institute of Religion at Los Angeles. Jim, a son of Dr. and Mrs. Lester E. Ottesen of Spring-ville, is a graduate of the local high school and a former student at Brigham Young University. He is now enrolled as a sophomore at the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry. He has fulfilled a mission to England and is presently serving as the first counselor in the Sunday-Schoo- l of the University Ward, Los Angeles Stake. Miss Anne Johnson Sets Wedding Date with Neal C. Lambert ofSLC Miss Anne Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Eugene Johnson of Springville, will become the Valentine Day bride of Neal C. Lambert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lambert, 3767 Birch Dr., Salt Lake City, in a cere-mony in the Salt Lake Temple. A reception is being plan-ned for the couple the following evening, February 15, in the Third-Nint- h ward church. The talented young bride-ele- ct will graduate from the University of Utah in the spring. Her outstanding music ability has been recognized in numerous performances in Springville and throughout the state. She was concert mis-tress of the Springville high school orchestra and held the same position for two years with the BYU Symphony or-chestra. She has been a member also of the Utah State Symphony the past two years and is affiliated with the Mu Phi Epsilon, national music sorority. At the Brigham Young University, she was affiliated with the Nautilus social unit and is presently a member of the Associated Women Stu-dents at the University of Utah. Mr. Lambert has completed his training with the U. S. armed forces and has also served on an LDS mission to Great Britain. Camp Locust Grove The January meeting of Camp Locust Grove DUP is scheduled today at 2 p.m., at the home of Mrs. Gertrude Clements, 614 South Fourth East and all members are ur-ged to be present. Home Culture Club Members of the Home Cul-ture Club will meet with Mrs. Harrison Conover Friday af-ternoon, to hear a talk on, "Merit Rating in the Schools." Mrs. Floyd Childs Club Hostess Members of the L.C.B. Club vill meet with Mrs. Floyd Childs this evening at 8 p.m. It will be election night and all members are urged to be present. The group held their holiday party at the home of Mrs. Fred Childs with sixteen mem-bers present. Table games with prides awarded the winners, gifts exchanged and a nicely arranged luncheon were diver-- i sions of the evening. Mother Honored On Birthday Mrs. Rose Curtis Nielson was honored at a birthday party Saturday night by her husband and sons and daugh-ters. Dinner was enjoyed in the new Grandview Cafe in Provo. One long table was beautifully decorated for the occasion with a large birthday cake in the center and colorful miniature Japanese parasols as name cards at each place. The guest of honor was pre-sented with a lovely gift and the group sang, "Happy Birth-day" after which they gather-ed at the Elmo Curtis home and played "Bingo." All of Mrs. Nielsons child-ren were present but one son, Vernon Curtis, who lives in California and was unable to attend. The guest list included: Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Curtis,! Family Gathers For Birthday A special family party to honor Mrs. Rachel Phillips on her 90th birthday was held the Saturday of last week when many of her family were home for the holidays. The party was held at the home of Loren Phillips, a grandson and his wife Karen, with a turkey dinner and visit-ing taking up the time. Forty five family members were in attendance among whom were the- following from out - of - town: Lucy Phillips from Snow College, Ephraim; Mr. and Mrs. Max Hodson of Fort Lewis, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Bart Bartholomew and family of Spanish Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Karl Bird and fam-ily and Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Day and son of Salt Lake City. Relatives Together For Watch Party A watch party for relatives was held Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Weight and the time was spent with a delicious pot luck buffet supper, table games and visiting. Present were Mr. and Mrs. DeVere Weight, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Weight, Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Weight and the host and hostess. Friends Together For New Years Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Behr-man- n were hosts for a New Year's Eve party. The evening was spent watching home mov-ies, playing games, and danc-ing. Lyman Mellors Entertain Friends A group of friends were en-tertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Mellor the evening following New Years spending the time with visiting games and a delicious lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Davis have returned home from a two-wee- vacation during the holidays with their son Ted and wife and family at Idaho Falls, Ida. They report that Ted and family are just about ready to move into their new home there. Ashcraft Family Gathers for Party Thirty two relatives gather-ed at the Ernest Whiting home Sunday evening of last week for their traditional holiday party. A buffet supper, ex-changing of gifts, music and games were enjoyed by all in attendance, including the fol-lowing: Mrs. Abbie Ashcraft and other members of her family, Mr. and Mrs. Orean Ashcraft and daughter and a friend; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ashcraft and family; Mr. and Mrs. Ruel Ashcraft and family of Kearns; Mr. and Mrs. Neno Antineno and family of Mapleton; Mr. and Mrs. Bernell Anderson of Benjamin and Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Behrman and family and the host and hostess and family.
