Show J. "GUS" HOUTZ SERVICE HELD HERE WEDNESDAY Funeral services were conducted con-ducted at the A. Y. Wheeler and Son Mortuary, Wednesday afternoon after-noon for Jacob Augustus Houtz, 76, former resident of Springville, who died at his home in tndianola Saturday Sat-urday noon of a heart ailment. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Houtz was born in Springville Spring-ville April 9, 1870, a son of Jacob A. and Matilda Streeper Houtz. He received his education in the schools of Springville and later attended Brigham Young university, univer-sity, Provo. He was married to Ethel Hall of Springville Jan. 11, 1906. He was a conductor on the Denver & Rio Grande Western railroad 17 years and during the last war was employed at the Tooele ordnance depot. He had been active in Republican political pircles. He was a member and past master mas-ter of Damascus lodge No. 10, F & A M of Mt. Pleasant, a member of Utah chapter No. 1, Royal Arch Masons, Salt Lake City, and a member of Ivy chapter No. 10, O E S, Mt. Pleasant. Surviving are his widow; two sons, Jacob C. and H. Lamar Houtz', both of Indianola; a brother, broth-er, James S. Houtz, Reno, Nev. |
