Show DR. GEO. A. ANDERSON FUNERAL HELD WED. AFTERNOON i The Second ward chapel was filled with relatives and friends who assembled Wednesday afternoon after-noon to pay tribute to the life of Dr. George A. Anderson, prominent promin-ent physician and surgeon of this city, who died last Friday of a heart ailment at a Provo hospital. He was taken to the hospital on Wednesday, after carrying on his regular work answering calls and 1 1 ... 7 visiting the sick. Burial was in the family plot at the Provo city cemetery, under direction of Claudin Funeral home. Dr. Anderson was born at Fountain Foun-tain Green, August 11, 1880, a son of Erastus and Anna K. Anderson, natives of Copenhagen, Denmark. He came to Springville in 1909 and had practiced medicine continuously con-tinuously over a period of nearly 40 years. He received hfs education at the Brigham Young university, Provo, and the Jefferson medical school, Philadelphia, Pa. He served three terms as mayor of Springville. During the first two terms, from 1928 to 1932, he was instrumental" in having the city electric power plant installed in Spring Creek canyon. It was largely tnrougn ms ettorts as city mayor from 1934 to 1936 that the Springville high school art building build-ing was constructed, and construction construc-tion began on the city sewer system. sys-tem. Dr. Anderson was a member of the Springville Chamber of Commerce Com-merce and a former' member of the Kiwanis club. He was a member mem-ber of the operational staff of the Utah Valley hospital, Provo, and a member of the American Medical Medi-cal Association. He was also a member of the Timpanogos Knife and Fork club. He filled a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints from 1901 to 1903 in the southern states. He married Nellie Jacob Sept. 13, 1905. Survivors include his widow; a son and two daughters, Maurice Anderson, Springville, member of the state legislature; Mrs. Mildred Althouse, Henderson, Nev.; Mrs. Hazel Loewenstein, Terre Haute, Ind.; eight grandchildren, and two brothers and a sister.
