Show SERVICE HELD TUESDAY FOR SGT. STEVENSON . 1 Military Rites Conducted At Evergreen Cemetery For Sgt. It. C. Stevenson Military graveside services were conducted ' Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery for Sgt. Raymond C. Stevenson, World War II hero and son of Mrs Ann Crandall Stevenson, 1453 Westminister West-minister Ave., Salt Lake City, formerly for-merly of Springville. The Cyprus post No. 38 of the American Legion will conduct the military rites.. Sgt. Stevenson, who was wounded by enemy gunfire . on Feb. 11, 1945 at Clark Field, P.' I., died May 9, 1945 at Negros Island. He had been awarded the good conduct medal and the purple heart. Born Oct. 28,1919, in Salt Lake City, he was a graduate of Cyprus high school at Magna, and entered the service in October, 1941. He served with the 160th Infantry division and the 40th division, having received training at Camp Roberts, Calif, and Ft. Lewis Wash, before going overseas in October, 1943. Prior to his army duty, Sergeant Prior to his army duty, Sergeant Stevenson was employed by Utah Copper company. He was a member mem-ber of the LDS church. Surviving are his mother and four brothers: Earl C. and Morris G. Stevenson, both of San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Calif.; Howard C. Stevenson, Steven-son, Magna, and Joe C. Stevenson,' Salt Lake City. Burial was under direction of A. Y. Wheeler and son Mortuary. |
