Funeral Services Held Saturday for Former Resident Largely attended funeral services ser-vices were conducted in the Fifth ward chapel Saturday afternoon, for Mrs. Phoebe Ellen Barlow Sumsion, 78, a former resident of Springville and Sanpete county, who died last Wednesday, at a hospital in Santa Barbara, Calif., f a heart attack. She was ill only a short time. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, under the direction of Y' Wneeler and Son Mortuary. Mrs. Sumsion was born in Springville, October 7, 1872, a daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Johnson Barlow. She was married w Henry L. Sumsion April 2, 1892, and they made their home in this nty where Mr. Sumsion engaged 111 early contracting. In 1900, they moved to Chester, where Mr. Sumsion operated a farm. Mrs. Sumsion was active in urch work all her life and while Chester, served in the Relief society presidency. They had made io!or home in California since t-?J She was the mother of eight children. Surviving besides her husband e a son, H. Theodore Sumsion of Wiagarra Falls, N. Y.; five daughters, daugh-ters, Mrs. Dora Davis of Ephraim; Mrs. Hilda Kump, Santa Barbara, alif.; Mrs. Susan Switzer, Ban-r. Ban-r. Calif.; Mrs. Clara Christensen, ennilworth; Mrs. Vera Summers, alt Lake City; 17 grandchildren ana 12 great grandchildren; two asters, Mrs. Clara Smith, Santa frbara, Calif.; Mrs. Lizzie Egoff, J-as Vegas, Nev.; three brothers, Austin A. Barlow, Morgan; Ernest Ern-est and Harry Barlow of Salt Lake |
