Show J.F. AVERETT DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS Funeral services for John Farnsworth Averett, 85, well known retired farmer and stock raiser, and a pioneer resident of this community, who died early Wednesday, at his home following follow-ing a long illness, will be held Friday, at 2 p. m., in the Fourth ward chapel. Friends may call at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Owen Hall. 1125 East Center street, prior to the services. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery under direction of A. Y. Wheeler mortuary. mor-tuary. Mr. Averett was born in Salt Lake City. July 24, 1853. a son of Judathan and Jane Averett. He came to Springville with his parents at the age of three years, and had lived here since. During his early life, he spent considerable time in timber and railroad construction wrork. He was also a well known hunter and trapper of this vicinity. Later he engaged in farming and stock raising, retiring about 15 years ago. His recent hobby was caring for one of the finest gardens in this community. He was an active member of the church. He married Charlotte Weight. February 1, ISTfl. in the endowment endow-ment house, Salt Lake Citv. She died on November 14. 1015. and on March 29. 1919, he married Louisa H. Collett. Surviving are his widow, and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Pearl 'Hall. J. F. Averett. Ruel Averett. and Fred Averett of Springville; Mrs. Lottie Hall of Rigby.'ldaho. and Lionel Averett Aver-ett of 'Salt Lake City, by his first marriage: Miss Venna Averett. Aver-ett. Sprin.gville. bv the second marriage: 30 grandchildren: 28 great-grandchildren: a brother. Hardy Averett of Springville. |
