Detailed and interesting inter-esting reports on the recent state convention in Spanish Fork were given during the evening by Mrs. Ailda Barron and Mrs. Floss Phil- lips. Mrs. Flora Maiben was hostess to members of the Fidelity club at her home on Friday night. Cards and a delicious luncheon were featured. Prizes for the games went to Mrs. Olive Miller, Mrs. Anna Johnson and Mrs. Mary Clegg. Mrs. Alice Avcrett returned to her home Thursday from Aurora, where she has been visiting a daughter, Mrs. Jane Mason and laniily. Sue was called home because be-cause of the sudden death of her son loimo Avcrett. Mrs. J. c. Nielson of this city, 1-H supervisor, has been .-.ppoint-ed to chaperone the girls who took first places in the Utah county coun-ty exhibits, to the state fair this week. Some of the girls including Miss LaRhea Nielson who took i first place in the county health contest, will have their expenses paid during attendance at the state fair. Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss LaRee West, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Berta West of this city and Grant Alle-man, Alle-man, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Alleman also of Springville, which took place on Thursday, in the Salt Lake temple. Mrs. Emma Gardner and son Dougal X, have joined Mr. Gardner Gard-ner at Ogden to make their home for the winter. Miss Nell Weight, Miss Jane Alleman, Miss Helen Palfreyman Salt Lake City teachers and Miss Cleo Pierce of Ogden have returned return-ed to their work following summer vacations at their home here. Miss Phylis Weight daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Weight returned re-turned recently from Los Angeles, Calif., where she has spent the past year. She plans to attend school this year. Mrs. Emma Brown of Los Angeles, California, spent a few days of the past week with relatives and friends in Springville. She has been visiting in Provo, Springville and Salt Lake City the past month. Mrs. Velma Roylance will be hostess to members of the Busy Finger club at her home Thursday. The high school Thespians, dramatic dra-matic organzation, held a delightful delight-ful party Wednesday evening at the Little theater in the art building at which officers for the year were elected. Arnold Barney Bar-ney was elected president; Fer-ron Fer-ron Heaton, vice-president; Ina Sanford, secretary; Elsie Sum-sion. Sum-sion. treasurer; Dorothy Long, historian; Edna Nielson, press agent. Joe Salisbury retiring president, presided at the installation instal-lation and . presented - each new officer wuth a golden robe and blue scarf. From a long and beautifully decorated table carrying car-rying out in artistic manner the. society's colors of blue and gold, tasty refreshments were served. Approximately 20 members were in attendance to enjoy the delightful de-lightful affair which was under direction of Miss Bernice Park, high school dramatic instructor. Mothers' Study club members held the "first meeting of the season sea-son in the form of a party Friday afternoon, at Valley Tavern. Mrs. Philda Finley and Mrs. Gladys Boyer were hostesses. A well arranged ar-ranged and tasty luncheon together to-gether with an interesting program pro-gram featured the entertainment. Mis. Mae Hunington gave a report re-port on the student lending fund and Miss Elaine Brockbank in splendid manner gave the play, "The Monkey's Paw. President Philda Finley presided during the afternoon and announced the next meeting of the club for Friday, September 22; at the home of Mrs. Mae Huntington. i The Ladies' Literary club meeting meet-ing is scheduled for next Thursday, Thurs-day, September 28, at the 'home or Mrs. Hannah Canister. Mrs. Minnie Finley will give the play, "No Time For Comedy." Juenc Mere club members held their first meeting of the season sea-son following a summer recess at Valley Tavern Wednesday night. It was a no-hostess party -nd cards featured the occasion. The affair was also in honor of Mrs. Gweneth Thorn, a member mem-ber who is leaving to make her home in Reno, Nev. Prizes for the evening's games went to Mrs. Edna Clyde and Mrs. Mabel Ma-bel Wright. Others in attendance were, Mrs. Madelyn Despain, Mrs. Florence Allen, Mrs. Beth Jensen. Mrs. Marie Whiting, Mrs. Mauiine Haymond, Mrs. Naomi Thorn, Mrs. Margaret Blackctt, Mrs. True Clyde, Mrs. Florence Nielson, Mrs. Lucille Childs, Mrs. Gweneth Thorn. Mrs. Haze Harrison and Mrs. Philda Finley with Mrs. Bernice Hutchinson, Mrs. Ella Gale and Mrs. Marie Sabin of Payson, enjoyed en-joyed the day last Thursday, visiting vis-iting in Ogden and Salt Lake City. Mis. LaVieve Bertelsen was hostess to members of the La Valate club at a nicely arranged party at her home Friday evening. even-ing. Contract bridge featured the entertainment for whic'h prizes were won by Mrs. Lamar Hunter and Mrs. Grant Pernod of Provo. Preceeding the games, a tasty desert lunch was served. Present were the following, Mrs. Phil De Lamare, Mrs. Grant Penrod, Mrs. Lamont Leavitt, Mrs. Lamar La-mar Hunter, all of Provo, Mrs. Jack Evans, Mrs. Merrill Neil-son Neil-son and Mrs. Francis Hazel of this city, the latter three being guests. The Boosters club held their annual old members party on Monday night with the Misses Loreen Crandall and Carina Crandall Cran-dall acting as hostesses. A delightful de-lightful time was spent with progressive card games and social so-cial chat together with a delicious deli-cious luncheon served at small tables. Lovely decorations consisting con-sisting of rose buds and asters were used on the serving tables and entertaining rooms. Each honored guest, comprising members mem-bers of the club who graduated last spring were presented with a lovely gift. These girls included includ-ed Ila Clyde, Lois Johnson, Fern Simkins, Lajeune Whitney, Merle Fletcher, Mary Louise Wingae, Edna Bartholemew, Edna Wiscombe and Buleah Whiting, In attendance at the party were about 22 members. Lovely in every detail was the wedding reception given Friday evening in the Second ward hail for the former LaRae West, daug'hter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert West, and Grant Alleman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Alleman also of this city, who were married in the Salt Lake temple on Thursday. Thurs-day. Approximately 400 friends and relatives were in attendance. In the receiving line were Mr. and Mrs. West, Mr. and Mrs. Alleman and members of the bridal party. The bride was attractively gowned in a white satin model with finger tip veil of net with lace edging and caught to her head with a cornet of seeded pearls. Her bouquet was of bridal bri-dal roses. Her bridesmaids Miss Virginia Tuttle and Miss Jane Alleman wore cream and pink formats and her matron of honor, Mrs. Bert O. Brown, a formal of orchid. Max Alleman was best man. Gcorgeous decorations were used in the lobby and t'he main hall. A complete fireplace of white asters with red salvia representing re-presenting the fire was an outstanding out-standing feature of the decorations. decora-tions. Fall flowers and ferns also decorated the main hall. Miss Phylis Boyer and" Ranee Davis were usheers and the Misses Norma Nyland, Beth Evans, Ev-ans, Mary Curtis assisted Miss Helen Alleman with the serving. Kenneth West brother of the bride was master of ceremonies and a nicely arranged program was given during the evening together to-gether with dancing. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Kindred of Idaho Falls, Idaho visited Mr. and Mrs. John Kindred here en-route en-route to the fair and other places of interest in California. Mrs. Ira Brown and son Robert Ro-bert of Burbank, Calif., have returned to their home after spending the past week with Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Baker and family fami-ly here. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Argyle former for-mer residents of this city entertained en-tertained a number of friends at dinner at their home in Merctir on Sunday.
