Cheerleaders attend UCA camp The Spanish Fork High School Cheerleaders are pleased to announce their success this last month at the Universal Cheerleading Association Cheerleading Camp. The girls scored superior in all of their evaluations and performances and placed third in the "Camp Champs" camp competition 'against 13 other Utah cheer teams. Four of the Varsity Cheerleaders: Rachel Thomas, Kirsten Taylor, Jessica Money, and Angela Adams competed and were chosen to participate on UCA's All Star Team and are eligible to perform and travel to parades across the country this year. We are excited about our success this early in the season. The cheerleaders would like to invite and encourage the community to come out and support the high school teams this year, The Cheerleaders would also like to thank the community for supporting their concession booth at the Fiesta Days Rodeo. They would like to give special thanks to Spanish Fork City, Rocky's American Car Care, Salem Chevron, Jumbono's, Sams Club, and all of the parents of the girls and everyone else that contributed to their success. The Spanish Oaks Ladies Travel golf team played the East Bay ladies at the Reserve Golf Course at East Bay in Provo on Monday July 28. The weather was beautiful. Team members were: Luana Howell Francorn, Jolynn Griner, LaRue Taylor, Gloria Christensen, Dickie Jane Sargent, Sandi Nilsson, Gayle Valdez, and Eunice Schiegel. The most points taken were by the team of Gayle and Eunice. Gloria the least putts. The team played a very competitive game and lost by a few points. The next team play will be at the Fox Hollow Golf Course that was the old Tri-City Course on Aug. 25,2008. Gloria, Sandi and LaRue played in the Misigin Tournament at the Riverside Country Club with Eloise Jensen on July 10-11, 2008. Gloria won closest to the hole on #17. She won a sky caddie for her prize. The Spanish Oaks Ladies will host a Best-Ball Tournament on Aug. 6 at the Course. Luana Howell Francom is the chairperson for this event. She and the gals have been working very hard getting donation from the businesses and other people,. Ladies from all over the State come to participate in the tournament. We hope it is a big success. The Ladies will continue to meet at 8 a.m. for pairings and the play of the day and tee off at 8:30 a.m. as long as the weather is good. Also we have a 5 p.m. for anyone who wishes to play then. • » • * • • • Football Boosters' m Aug. 21, 200'8 at 7 p.m. the "Spanish f 6rK Football Boosters will be conducting their annual auction at the Spanish Fork Football Field. This year will be somewhat unique. The auction will be held at the same time as the evening practice prior to the first game. The first game is with Alta on Aug. 22,2008.i' Theians, the boosters and the community will have an opportunity to support the boosters, watch the practice and have a piece of pizza with the team. : The Boosters will accept any donated items up to the starting.time of the auction. He became a AAu All American by winning the freestyle tournament and taking 2nd in the Greco and folkstyle Tournament; Ashworth also took 5th in freestyle and folkstyle in Pocatello Idaho at the Western Regionals.
