Show I ^chools Covering what matters most WEDNESDAY, APRIL 2, 2008 • B3 SFHS Students of the month Chase Hutchings * Chase Hutchings is the ;sph of Alan and Brenda ; Hutchings. His main hobbies ; are reading and archery. ; Chase said, "I have ; always loved to read. I have '. a wonderful imagination land books take me places. I '• have never read a book that I • wouldn't read again." In regards to archery he • added, "Not many people • participate in archery. I love ; the work and dedication it ; requires. I love the little things ; people don't think about but ; are required for archery." ; Chase's favorite classes ." are orchestra and chemistry. ! He enjoys listening to all ! kinds of music except for rap, and his favorite musical - group is Collective Soul. His favorite book is Last of the Breed by Louis U Amour. He is an Eagle Scout, and he describes himself as being a good listener and a patient person. He is always willing to listen to someone if they are having a problem. After high school graduation Chase plans to serve an LDS mission, go to college, and get married. He also has aspirations to visit Japan, Thailand, Germany, and various parts of Europe. Mrs. Poulsen said, "Chase has a friendly, outgoing personality and shares his smile with everyone. He is honest and responsible and has always demonstrated outstanding character. Additionally, he is a dedicated student who seeks out opportunities that will challenge him." ~ Tana Clarke Tana Clarke is the daughter of Ivan and Tori Clarke. She is a member of Spanish Fork High School's National Honor Society and Close-up Club. She enjoys reading, scrapbooking, being with friends, watching movies, and fishing. She has maintained a spot on the Honor Roll, received second place at the Deseret Morning News journalism conference, and was recognized as a "Great Kid" by Nebo School District, Nebo Education Association and the Nebo Foundation. Her two favorite classes are AP Biology, because she loves learning about life and how everything works. She also loves English because, she said she loves reading and writing. Her favorite sport is football. Her favorite movie is "Hairspray", and her favorite foods are enchiladas and chips and salsa. She is working hard to graduate from high school with a 4.0 gpa, complete college with a four-year degree, and become a mom someday. Mr. Warren said, "Tana shines as a student and individual in AP Biology. She takes learning seriously and is committed to being successful. Her smile is contagious and her positive attitude can be felt around the room. She is truly an example of success to all students and faculty here at Spanish Fork High School. Tana is an extraordinary student. Congratulations on being chosen as student of the month." Jeff Compton Jeff Compton is the son of Greg and Tammy Compton. He is a member of Spanish Fork High School's National Honor Society, Guitar Club, and Yearbook Staff. He enjoys playing the guitar and taking pictures of school events for publication in the yearbook. He also likes being outdoors — camping, hiking, and mountain biking. Some of his favorite activities include eating steak, listening to classic rock, being on the yearbook staff, playing the guitar, and mountain biking. He is an Eagle Scout and a recipient of the President's Education Award. He has also earned his Duty to God Award as a deacon and teacher. He describes himself as "usually pretty quiet." He has plans to graduate from high school, get married, and raise a family. When asked about the importance of education he said, "I think that my education is important because I want to get a good job when Fm older that Twill enjoy and be good at." Mrs. Poulsen said, "Jeff is an extremely persistent and hardworking student. Whatever challenges or obstacles may come his way, he works hard to thoroughly understand his studies and accomplish everything he puts his mind to. Jeff is extremely responsible in his schoolwork and other activities. He is also very kind to those around him and always treats others with respect." Lindsay Soderberg Lindsay Soderberg is the daughter of David and Linda Soderberg. Her short-term goals are to take more time to read and become a lot better at snowboarding. Her long-term goals are to graduate from college with a Bachelor's Degree, get married* have a family, and run a marathon. She loves drag racing. Some of her favorite outdoor activities include fourwheeling, snowboarding, running, and . biking. She also enjoys swimming and playing sports like volleyball, ultimate frisbee, soccer, and basketball. Her favorite classes are Honors English and AP Calculus. Her favorite foods are Chinese, Italian, and the "typical Thanksgiving dinner". Her favorite music genres are country, rock, R&B, and classical. Her favorite books to read include mysteries, adventures, fantasies, fairy tales, essays, and poetry. Lindsay received the Top (Don Award for Excellence for eight of her classes as a freshman and the highest rating for solo and ensemble competitions for two years. She is a member of Spanish Fork High School's National Honor Society and the Hope Squad. Ms. Davis said, "I have enjoyed getting to know Lindsay in Honors English this year. She is a dedicated, interested student. Her work is always top-quality and shows creativity and maturity. I have appreciated her insightful contributions to class." Kylee is a cheerleader and a member of the dance company. She truly enjoys cheering and dancing. Her favorite class is English. She likes chicken alfredo, ice cream, chocolate covered strawberries, and Dr. Pepper. Her favorite time of year is summer. Her favorite music groups are Buck Cherry, Linkin Park, and Keith Urban. She also enjoys reading; her favorite books right now are the Twilight series. When the wind blows she loves going boating and wake surfing. Her future plans include graduating from high school, going to college, arid becoming an English teacher. She also plans to get married and have a family. Mrs. Villarta said, "Kylee is a terrific student, charming young lady, and an example to her peers in all regards. She works hard in chemistry and excels in the lab setting. She keeps up with her work despite a heavy cheerleading schedule. She is courteous and kind to others at all times and makes everyone feel good who is around her. She is a joy to have in class and is one of our outstanding sophomores." Allen is at student, classmate and Senior Whitney Dixon is the daughter of Mark and Jone Dixon of Spanish Fork. Whitney is NHS president and a member of the Key Club and FCCLA. She maintains a 3.95 GPA, and her favorite classes are Ambassadors and AP Biology. On a road trip, Whitney would travel to California to spend time on the beach and would listen to "anything upbeat."
