Rees holds spelling bee Pioneering history Jake Mafi and Riley McGill REES On Feb. 22, 2008 our school had a spelling bee for all fourth, fifth and sixth graders. Each class got to send two representatives. Our two representatives were Jake Mafi and Hayden Hatch. Rachel Anderson from Mrs. Beyal's class took third place. Anisa Foster from Mr. Loreen's class took second Place. The first place winner was Jake Mafi! It was a close race. The scariest moment was when Jake misspelled a word and could have lost but Anisa misspelled the word too. Congratulations, Jake! Riverview AMHITOZ* > AMELIA NDEUA SUMMER CAMPS Rebecca Sanford RIVERVIEW At Riverview Elementary the fourth graders are learning about pioneers. To help us learn about the pioneers we did rotations. Rotations •are when one class goes to another class. Our class went to Mrs. Wright's class. In Mrs. Wright's class, we did a lot of things to learn about the pioneers. Here are some of the things we did: we learned many songs about the pioneers and one of my favorite activities was when we got put into families with a budget of $265. We had to buy all the supplies we needed to survive on our way -to the Great Salt Lake. Then we went back to our class and began our pioneer journals. In the journals we wrote down things that we would have written if we were pioneers. This is one sentence from my pioneer journal: "Finally we reached the great Salt Lake, after all the things that happened." So now you know what the fourth graders at Riverview Elementary are learning this year. If you aren't lucky enough to know of Amelia Bedelia, she is a much loved character from a series of books about the wacky Housekeeper, Amelia Bedelia, who takes everything literally. For example, when asked to dress the chicken, she whipped up a pair of clothes and placed them on the chicken. Students were excited to see her pntics during an hour long play about the wacky housekeeper. It was a great opportunity for the students to see a favorite book turned into a stage play and to experience live theatre.
