Show Guardian of Your Community News B2 • WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2009 SFHS names students of the month for September Arista Morgan Sophomore Arista Morgan is the daughter of Chastity Morgan and Russell and Marilyn Morgan. Arista's favorite class in school is Spanish because it is fun to learn another language and you can communicate with more people. She also loves her reading class because she has loved reading her whole life. The best award or recognition that Arista wanted to mention was that her dad said that she is the most wonderful daughter in the whole world. When asked about her interests and hobbies, Arista said, "Reading fantasy and romance are my favorite things to read. I love drawing animals and trees or flowers. I love writing stories. I play video games and have fun. My favorite is Wii Play, Wii Sports , Mario Cart and Guitar Hero. I love watching movies. I am interested in animals and love being around them." Of her goals, Arista said, "Turn in all assignments on time this school year. I don't want to get anything below a "C" this year. Study hard and pass all tests. Long term, I would like to be a photographer. I will be taking photography next semester." When asked to discuss education, Arista said, "I think that education is very important. Every day after school, the first thing I do is my homework so that it is all done and ready to turn in the next day." Mrs. Mitchell said, "Arista is a student that is always on time and prepared for class. Arista's quiet confidence makes her a student that can achieve anything that she puts her mind to." Arista Morgan Jarrett Jarvis Dallen's long term goals are to get good grades through high school and college, to become an officer of the law and then become a member oftheS.WAT. team. When asked about one interesting or unique thing about Dallen he replied, "I have a really unique personality, I'm creative and I love to make movies with my brother and cousin. I also am good at making people laugh." When asked to discuss education, Dallen said, "He doesn't really have an opinion on school, I just have to go to it. I do have an experience that has affected my goals. My fifth grade teacher truly cared about me and my success and Mr. Roberts inspired me to always try for my best." When asked to discuss education and his opinion, Jarrett said, "Education is very important to me because without it, I would not be able to reach my goals.'* When asked, Mr. Nelson said, "Jarrett is an outstanding student, baseball player and athlete, and more importantly person! Jarrett is an extremely hard worker who goes the extra mile in the classroom, as well as on the baseball field, I have the pleasure of both teaching and coaching. Jarrett can attest to the fact that he is looked up to by fellow students and teammates. Jarrett is one of the most respectful individuals I have been around in my 30 years of teaching and coaching." When asked about her thoughts on education, she said, "School has really helped me find out my interests and figure out what I want to do after high school. I think school is important to all students because of this. It also helps students to become hard workers and productive members of society." Emily's art teacher said, "Emily McKinney has been a great student. She is diligent and hard working. She has taken every assignment I have given her, and worked very hard to make each one the best she can. She loves to dig in and do her very best! Each assignment is a fun challenge for her. She enjoys figuring out how to make everything work out so she ends up with an amazing work of art. Emily does not mind spending hours on a project. He is a leader, a scholar and a friend. I have had the opportunity to work with Trevor as he serves as 2nd vice president of the student body. He has also been a student in my English class. Everything he does is done with excellence. As an SBO, Trevor is conscientious. He is a strong leader who is reliable, friendly and devoted. He willingly accepts assignments with a smile and always follows through. I can count on Trevor to volunteer to do tasks others have forgotten about. As a student, Trevor is thoughtful and thorough. His writing is insightful, and he contributes daily to our discussions. It is a pleasure to work with Trevor in both SBOs and English class. I can think of few more deserving than Trevor to be student of the month." HONORING EXCELLENCE AT SFHS Candace Wride Senior Candace Wride is the daughter of Dennis and Kathryn Wride of Spanish Fork. She maintains a 3.95 GPA and her favorite classes include show choir and seminary. Candace is the SBO secretary and coaches gymnastics. She's also a member of NHS, the Hope Squad and Impact International. On a road trip she would "drive to the nearest airport and fly and travel the world" listening to "anything I can sing and dance to." Elementary School Student MS Domlnlk Vogt American Leadership Academy Dominik Vogt is a loving and friendly kid. He is always striving to do what is right and lie always sticks up for the underdog. He goes out of his way to make others happy. He has a great attitude towards life and always makes the best out the situation he is in. Dominik likes to write adventure stories and do flips on his trampoline. He also loves playing football. He recently played for the first-place Spanish Fork team, the Cowboys. 72 H.
