From Oct. 8-10, ALA's drama department immersed themselves in all things Shakespeare. On Friday and Saturday, Utah Shakespearean Festival correlated with SUU and hosted a high school Shakespeare competition. Over 20 schools from Utah, Arizona, Nevada and California participated in acting, singing, playing and dancing in competition, ail of it dedicated to the Bard and his works. ALA departed from the school on Thursday in order to rehearse that evening and enjoy a performance of "Aida" at St. George's Tuacahn ampitheater. Throughout the course of the weekend, they watched "The Complete Works of Shakespeare, Abridged" and The Woman in Black," aside from the performances of their comrades and competitors. ALA's Shakespeare team performed an ensemble one-act play titled "Warlords of the Museum", a piece where various lines by Shakespeare from his different works were compiled by Sandy Millet, an ALA drama teacher, to create their own plot and story. Also, ALA competed with two-person ensemble scenes, monologues and a dance by the ALA dance company.
