Maple Mountain attempted an onside kick to try to get the ball back; however, Springville not only recovered the onside kick, but ran it into the end zone, scoring again. After Maple Mountain was forced to punt again, Springville finished up the game with a final touchdown, to leave the score at 12-56. Region 8 tennis tourney The Region 8 girls tennis tournament was held Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 in Spanish Fork. At first singles, Spanish Fork's Alex Argyle took first, followed by Maple Mountain's Calley JBankhead at second. Salem Hills' Kelsey Tolbert took fourth. At second singles, Maple Mountain's Anna Cronquist took first, followed by Lisa Soffe of Spanish Fork in second and Debryn Saunders of Salem Hills in third. At third singles Maple Mountain's Haley Roney took second. Betty Thomas of Spanish Fork finished third, with Salem Hills' Sammi Magoffin in fourth. Maple Mountain's first doubles team of Kelsey Lewis/Hailey.. _ Harlan. took first in ..the tournament, with Spanish Fork's McKenna West/Randi Miller in second and Salem Hills' Chloe Lawson/ Morgan Miller in third. Maple Mountain also won at second doubles with Spencer Rose/Jamie Lun- dberg. Salem Hills came in second with Hanah Riley/Katherine Riley. Spanish Fork's Marissa Christensen/Lisie Dixon finished fourth. Members of the Academic All-Region team were also named. These include Spanish Fork's Alex Arglye, Christina Heywood and Betty Thomas; Maple Mountain's Kelli S1 ade, Aubrynn Fawcett and Lindsey McMurdie; and Salem Hills' Chloe Lawson. SAM'S PREP OF THE WEEK Travis Still Junior Football Wide Receiver/Free Safety Barry Dalton / The Sentinel TEE TIME: Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 was the last region match. Uintah won region with an overall total of 2,461. Salem took second with a total of 2,591. Spanish took third with a total of 2,611. Springville took fourth with a total of 2,709. Maple Mountain took fifth with a total of 2,902, and Payson took sixth with a total of 2,917. The top 10 region medalists were as follows: Stratton Schultz, Uintah, 512; Alex Baldridge, Uintah, 524; McKay Parr, Salem, 527 (pictured above); Blake Rollins, Uintah, 532; Ryan Rigby, Springville, 543; Kris Cook, Spanish Fork, 547; Elliot Naulu, Spanish Fork, 549; JC Snyder, Salem, 565; Christen Karren, Uintah, 571; and Dave Madsen, Spanish Fork, 589. Travis Still is the son of Brian and Shelly Still of Spanish Fork. The 6'2" junior seemed unstoppable against the Payson defense on Friday, Oct. 2. Still had three TD receptions on a 16-yard pass, 21-yard pass and 65-yard pass from sophomore QB Hayden Nielsen.
