Holden Adams, son of Lori and Bryan Adams, participated in the boys varsity race. "It was a really fast and intense race. I broke my 2 mile time and PR. It was my fastest 5K ever," said Adams. Lindsay Schuring, daughter of Lisa and Daniel Schuring, participated in the girls varsity race. "I thought it was a good race," she said. The Zubs JV Athletes are Shantel Johnson and Kevin Muirbrook. Shantel Johnson, daughter of Craig and Alyce Johnson participated in the girls JV race. Kevin Muirbrook, son of Lisa and Ladd Muirbrook, participated in the boys JV race. "It was amazing!" he said. Salem will be hosting ifs first annual Witches 5K Run and Children's Mile as a fundraiser for Salem Hills High School cross country teams. It will be held Oct. 31, 2009. Registration begins at 7 a.m., the 5K begins at 8 a.m. and the children's mile begins at 8:45 a.m. It will begin at Salem Hills High School, 150 N. Skyhawk Blvd., Salem. It is open to all comers — any age, ability or experience level can run. The prizes will be a $50 gift certificate to race winners, medals for age group places, a prize drawing for all runners and prizes for the best Halloween costumes. The cost, including the race shirt, is $15 for the 5k run (pre-entry, by Oct 24), or $20 for late registration. The children's mile is $10 for preentry (by Oct. 24) or $12 for late registration.
