Notes SF Youth Flag Football You can register on line for youth sports at reconline .spanishfork .org Courtesy photos FOOTBALL WEATHER: Wednesday, Sept.' 30 marked the final day of a great season in youth flag football for 2009. The weather knew it was the last night and it turned on us, right into football weather! A strong storm brought thundershowers, mountain snow and lots of rain leading up to the evening games. But that did not stop 16 3rd/4th and 10 5th/6th grade teams hitting the grid iron in the mud and muck. Pictured above are the Bengals, 3/4 grade first place. Youth Sports Oct. 7: Jr. Wrestling Early Registration ends for boys grades K-6. Early fee is $30; after Oct. 7 the fee is $35. Non-residents must pay an additional $20. Wrestling camp is available for an additional $5 and will run Oct. 20-21, 2009. Registration ends Oct. 15, 2009. Jr. Wrestling Camp for grades K-l will be 5-6:30 p.m.; for grades 2-6, 6:30-8 p.m. Camp is held in the SFHS wrestling gym. Oct. 13: Little Hoopsters early registration ends. This is for boys and girls grades 1-2. Early fee is $30; late fee is $35. Games will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6-7 p.m. for four weeks, beginning Nov. 5, 2009. Non-residents must pay an additional $10. Enrollment is limited. Registration ends Oct. 20, 2009. Oct. 22: Jr. Wrestling coaches meeting for coaches only. Grades K - l will meet at 6:30 p.m; grades 2-6 at 7:30 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room at the Spanish Fork Recreation building. Adult Sports Oct. 8: Men's Basketball early registration ends. Sponsor fee: $150; early player fee $50 (after early deadline $55). Non residents must pay $20 per player up to $100 team cap. Oct. 15: Men's Basketball organizational meeting, 6:30 p.m. for coaches and 8 p.m. for officials in the downstairs meeting room of the Spanish Fork Recreation Building. Oct. 19: Women's Volleyball early registration ends. The early fee is $200. After the early deadline the fee is $225. "A" league plays Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Other divisions play Tuesdays. Not pictured, Kyson Welling. Men's Winter Basketball Salem City will offer a men's basketball league this fall/winter season. The league will be divided into two division of play, Upper and Recreational. Eight spots will be available in both leagues. Teams should sign up in the league that is appropriate to their team's ability. All players must be out of high school, at least 18 years old. Cost will be $425 per team if paid by Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009. After Oct. 20, team fees will be $450. A $5 non-resident fee will be charged for all non-Salem residents. Teams will play 12 league games. There will be two nights of practice games. A post-season tournament will be held the first week of March. All games will be played at Salem Hills High School. Practice games begin Oct. 28, 2009. Only players listed on the official team roster may play in games. Teams will provide their own matching jerseys or t-shirts. League play will begin Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009. The majority of games will be played on Wednesday evenings. A few games will be played on Thursday evenings. Women's Volleyball League Women's volleyball will be a new program this year offered to women age 18 and older. Two divisions will be offered with space for eight teams in each. Leagues will be divided based on ability, upper and recreational. Registration will be a team fee of $225 if paid by Monday, Oct. 21, 2009. After that day, team fees will become $250 per team. An additional $5 will be charged for team members that are not residents of Salem. League play will be held at Salem Hills High School. League action will begin Nov. 2, 2009. Both divisions will play Monday evenings. Team representatives will be required to attend the team organizational meeting Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at 7 p.m. SALEM WOMEN'S FLAG FOOTBALL STEELERS: The Steelers were the 5/6 grade first place team.
