Show THE COUNTY ELECTION. Headquarters, ) LrBERAL Territorial Committee, v , Salt Lake, July 7, 1890. The attention of the Liberals of the territory Is directed to the fact that the coinluif election Ju August Is one of importance to the territory. County officers are to lie chosen, aud a strong aitcresslve fluht should be waged by the Liberal Lib-eral party, even in counties w hero defeat is certain. Every member of our party should jnake an effort to Increase our vote in the territory ter-ritory over last August, when we polled 6500 ballots In round numbers. The time Is at hand when the county conventions con-ventions should be called for the uoniiuatlou of a ticket and the selection of county committees. com-mittees. The basis of representation should lie the Liberal vote, as polled at the August flection last year. To a) portion the delegates ipon the basis of the entire vote would be manifestly unfair, for upon such an apportionment, appor-tionment, a strong Mormon precinct, with few Liberal votes, would be given representation representa-tion as great as an adjoining Liberal prcciurt which had the same number of votes. County committees should avoid any such errors. The county committee chosen should consist con-sist of . five members, and their names aud TiOHtofttce addresses, with the nnmes and addresses ad-dresses of candidates nominated, should be forwarded to the territorial committee immediately imme-diately after each convention, by the secretary thereof. At each of the precinct caucuses, a precinct committee of three should be named, and the names and addresses forwarded at once to the Liberal territorial committee. In counties where the Liberal vote Is too Htiiall to justify the calling of a count y convention, conven-tion, the county committees should meet and place a ticket in the Held. Make your nominations In good season, and have your tickets printed aud distributed early, so that a full vote may be polled. Please keep your territorial committee fully Informed as to the poUtlcal situation In your respective localities. O. W. Powers, Chairman. C. E. Allbn, Secretary. |
