Tho funeral services over the remains of tho late Senator Hearst, who died last Saturday, Satur-day, were held at his late residence at noon today and were of a brie) and simple character. Itev. Mr. Douglas of St. Johns church read the Episcopal services for the dead after which he recited the hymn "Jesus Lover of My Soul." Tho casket rested in the large drawing draw-ing room of the house was hidden in lloral wreaths, pillows of roses, violets and lillies of the valley. Offerings were sent bv the president and Mrs. Harrison. Harri-son. Vice-President Morton and Senator Sen-ator Stanford were among the first to arrive at the house, and were followed by Mrs. Harrison and Secretary Kusk, followed by the congressional committee commit-tee appointed to attend the funeral and General Schotield. |
