Show COERESPOSDE.VCE. Salt Lake City, Jan., yist, 1871. Editors Herald. While at Kvanston, a few days back, I was told companies were being formed with the view to carry the Montana and Idaho freights and mails down Bear river, through Bear Lake valley, via Soda Springs, to their destination. des-tination. It was also told me that the route from Evanston is a shorter and better graded one than the one from Corinne, besides raving 100 miles of railroading (the distance between Evanston Ev-anston and Corinne). I am personally aware that the grade to Soda Springs from Evanston is as good as can be desired, de-sired, and that grass lor teams is superabundant, super-abundant, while the numerous intervening inter-vening settlements afford a protection to wagon trains that the other route does not possess. To promote such an enterprise the people of Bear Lake valley aie not only willing, but abundantly able, to render very great assistance. uuier ous teams aud numbers of men, well acquainted with the country beyond Soda Sprincs, are there at hand Cache valley is now not 1'ar distant Irom St. Charles, via the Loiran road, so that, if needed, help could be had from that quarter. I sincerely hope that a post route will soon be established from Evanston Evans-ton through the many thriving settlements settle-ments north. Between one and uvu hundred miles of ."Mormon'' settlements settle-ments would make n sale aud reliable route for mails, bulliou and travelers. Evanston is growing like magic. The L. P. round houses, machine shops and other numerous etceteras, will soon add much to the interest and importance impor-tance of the place. Respectfully, Ac, A. Milton Mlsski;. |
