Show FU ERAIJ SERVICES The Remains of Mark Murphy Laid to Rest The funeral services over the remair s of Mark Muruhy the engineer who lo this t-his life in the late wreck on the U P at Almv J inotion was conducted from the Second Ward Meeting House yeste day afternr on There were a Jar e numberof the deceaseds former friends I present sjine two car loads of people laving come down from Evanston to attend the sad services I The procession which escorted the remains to the city cemetery was a large one and was headed by the Odd Fellows Tin organization also furnished the pallbearers pall-bearers The hearse was followed by a large number of carriages containing lie snowing relatives and friends of the cieceatd Mark Murphy was born on the 91h day oi March iS47 in Fayettc County Georgia and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ or Lattorrtay Saints in June 1863 ircp ll 09 he has been employed on the railway commencing as a fireman but Boon being promoted to the position of engineer a position which he filled with conservatism and caution until the cruel fate of Saturday Jast transferred his labors to a brighter sphere No higher tribute can be paid to his standing stand-ing as an engine driver than to say that his employers knew of no man on the road whom they would sooner trust 10 pull tbeir tram than him while none more beautiful more grand or more worthy emulation can be said of bis manhood than that he was good kind and true to his mother Society may well monrn the loss of a member whose life has been so w > ll directed di-rected but while his friends sorrow at his absence they rest with the assurance assur-ance that as a just God rules the destinies des-tinies of the human race and men receive re-ceive reward and punishment for mortal deeds Mark Murphy portion will be among earths noblemen |
