The central object ob-ject in the solemn pomp was a gorgeous gorge-ous catafalque containing the remains d'the Archbishop, surrounded by minor mi-nor structures bearing the corpses of Ucguerry, the cure of Madeline, Suret, grand vicar of the diocese of Beeourt ind Sebastain. The coffin of the Arch bishop was covered with a pall of uiack velvet, embroidered ami enriched vitb a massive silver cross. At 11 o'clock the priests descended with military music, left the church, and proceeded to the great doors, which were draped iD black, to meet the coffin. Chanting 1 then commeoced, and outside was 1 heard the beating of drums, the poal-1 poal-1 ing of trumpets and the roaring of ' cannon. At the elevation of the host, the firing was repeated.
