Show Deal Sill: Roosevelt. Utah March 13, 1947 I haven't been out to the city's new well since it 'started to pump highly refined oil a week ago, but I understand that it's still going full blast, and turning turn-ing out water at the rate of 242 gallons a minute. I understand, too, that the water level hasn't fallen below the 132 foot level either. All of which brings up this question of a bond issue to provide pro-vide the town with a new culinary cul-inary water system. It's reliably reported that three members of the., city council favor a bond issue which would obligate the city in the amount of S175,000 and all to build a pipe line up to Indian Bench canal for city water. It doesn't sound reasonable that the people should be saddled with a debt that big when the prospects are that by proper handling and storage, the city could have a good water supply from the present system, plus inc new well, for an expenditure expendi-ture of about $70,000. But it looks like we might : have another bond election J since three councilmen are in ' favor of It, or so I gather. Mr. Norling started his building build-ing yesterday, and there are a lot of the boys up there swinging swing-ing picks like old hands today. " I guess Sabe Roberts' hands got to feeling pretty old quick like, because he's wearing a new pair of gloves today, and isn't holding hold-ing onto that pick handle with too much enthusiasm. Talked to Horace Allred on the phone last evening, and he said that he thought the legislature legis-lature would finish up today, and that he was heading for home the iinute the Speaker of the House declared the session ses-sion closed. He'll probably be around in the morning. As ever, Unc |
