Show Democrats To Take Over County Offices Monday The result of the Democratic "landslide" of last November, Republican Re-publican incumbents in offices at the city-county building in Provo will step out next Monday, January 7th, at noon, to make way for their successors. According to preliminary announcement an-nouncement the usual procedure of inducting the new officers into office of-fice will be followed. The morning is to be spent in examining and approving ap-proving bonds. County Clerk Frank Salisbury will swear in the county commissioners and county-clerk elect Clarence Grant will swear in the others. The change in officers brings one new commissioner, William J. Johnson, John-son, of Spanish Fork, replacing Charles H- White of Payson. Hilton Hil-ton A- Robertson, Springville, was 1 re-elected to office and J- W- Gill-j Gill-j man of Orem is hold-over. Law-I Law-I rence M. Atwood of Pleasant Grove ! retains his office as comity assessor, as dees county Sheriff E. G. Dur-nell Dur-nell of Provo. County Clerk Salisbury is being replaced by Clarence A. Grant of American Fork; County Auditor Amnion Am-nion Tuttle, Spanish Fork, will be replaced by E. Booth S'orenson of Lehi, and Andrew Jensen of Provo will take the office held by Treasurer Treasur-er John C- Taylor, Provo- Mrs Inez Jesse, county recorder, is the only Democratic officer to be replaced-Mrs- Eloise P. Fillmore of Payson was elected. Mrs. Jesse was not a candidate for the office. A. R. Shel-ton Shel-ton of Provo will take the office held by Hugo Price as county surveyor. sur-veyor. Over a dozen vacancies have been created and filled among the deputy-ships- Walter Durrant has been retained as deputy on the county sheriff's force, Miss Sylvia Shipley has been retained as a deputy in the county recorder's office and Earl S- Greenwood Green-wood has been approved and named a deputy in the county treasurer's office- John S. Beck has been reappointed re-appointed deputy road supervisor of American Fork district and Roy Steele has been named deputy-assessor, replacing Earl S- Greenwood. There is a possibility that American Amer-ican Fork also will receive one or more appointments for work while the state legislature is in session. Terry Draper, James H. Clarke, Irving Ir-ving L. Pratt and Francis Mercer have been approved by both local and county Democratic committees for such appointments. r |
