Show flow Is The Time For Fall Clean-up Campaign The City Fathers havei begun the fall clean up campaign at the city cemetery. Every lot at the city bur ial ground has been cleared of weeds and when they have been burned and removed, the place will be in fine shape. Many lawns were planted early this year and during the month of August several others were planted. They are beginning to show a green covering now. The City Fathers and other civic bddies should take in hand the planting plant-ing of the City park. The place should be levelled and if soil is needed to make the levelling better it should be done this fall so that the dirt can settle and le ready for early spring planting. We rejoice that the park is located so convenient to the business district, dis-trict, buit our civic pride must go farther than location. We must plant this beautiful tract to lawn and flowers and beautiful shrubs. Every City, the size of Pleasant Grove, in Utah county, are provided with beautiful well kept city parks that are a pride to the citizens residing there. Let's be one of them! Certain irrigation districts have continuously allowed waste water on the streets and made muddy side roads. This condition should be corrected- There are city ordinances to cover cov-er the weed and waste water problems prob-lems and people should take a pride in the sidewalks and streets adjoin, ing their property. We must remember re-member that if weeds are gotten rid of in the fall, they will not be scattered scatter-ed by the wind or other agencies during the winter months. Some of the open lots in Pleasant Grove are a menace to the cultivated ones that join them. There are enough weed seeds on one vacant lot to seed the whole city if left for the wind to dis-tribute dis-tribute during the fall and winter months. At this busy season let us spend a few hours around! our homes before the stormy weather comes. |
