Show Pleasant Grove - Thursday, October 21, 2004 - Page 8 Orchestra hosts concert tomorrow The Pleasant Grove Orchestra will present its fall concert Friday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove High School auditorium. The orchestra will perform "Bac-' "Bac-' chanal" by Saint-Saens, "Funeral March of a Marionette" Mari-onette" by Gounod, Von Suppe's "Light Calvary Overture," Over-ture," "Three Dances for Gayne Ballet" by Khachaturi-an Khachaturi-an and the "Fourth Movement from Symphony No. 6" by Tchaikowcky. A clarinet ensemble will also be showcased. Guest conductor is Burke Sorenson. He earned a bachelor's bache-lor's degree in music with an emphasis in instrumental music education from Brigham Young University. He received his master's of music in orchestral conducting at BYU. While at BYU, he conducted con-ducted the Symphony Orchestra Orches-tra University Strings and the University Orchestra. Sorenson Soren-son has taught studio violin, music dictation, conducting and other music classes at BYU. Sorenson, a Utah native, has been active in community music. He founded and currently conducts the Spanish Fork Chamber Player's Preparatory Orchestra. He co-founded and co-conducts the Provo-based New Horizons Orchestra for senior citizens in the community. commu-nity. He has also taught instrumental and general music in the public school full time in the Alpine School District. Dis-trict.
