Residents asked to call new phone number before burning yard clippings A new telephone number has been listed for those who want to burn yard clippings during the legal burn season, March 30 to April 29, 2002, according to the Pleasant Grove Dept. of Public Safety. Those desiring to burn green waste should call 796-7154 to be sure it is an approved burn day before starting the fire. Utah County only allows the public to burn tree and yard clippings during this one month period. A determination is made each day as to whether the air quality will allow burning. Every one planning to burn must check to be sure it is a burn day or they can be cited for an illegal burn. The taped message to be given on the new telephone tele-phone number is updated each day. The Public Safety Dept. also urges, xesi-r dents to burn in a safe place and to be-sure the fire is constantly supervised and that a garden hose is at hand in case the fire should begin to spread. The new number to call was decided upon because the dispatching center is too busy to handle all the permission to burn calls that come to them.
