Show Funeral Rites for Dr. John Bourne Today in PI. Grove Funeral services for John R. Bourne, 59, of Pleasant Grove, will be held today at 11 a.m. in the First Ward Chapel. Dr. Bourne died at the Utah Valley Hospital Monday of a heart attack. at-tack. He was born May 10, 1911 in Salt Lake City, a son of Col. LeRoy and Ethel Rogers Bourne. He married Marcia Osmond in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 1949. He then married Clara Elizabeth Farrar on Jan. 25, 1951 in the Manti LDS Temple. At the time of his death he was a physician and surgeon at the Utah State Hospital. He attended at-tended the University of Utah and George Washington University, Univer-sity, where he received his M.D. degree. He received a public health degree at Columbia Colum-bia University in New York. He was employed by the New Mexico State Board of Health for eight years and for two years by the New Mexico State Hospital before coming to Utah County. He also had practiced medicine in Roosevelt and Blanding. He was a colonel in the U.S. Army reserve, serving with the 328th Hospital Unit at Fort Douglas. He was an active member of the LDS Church, holding the office of Seventy in the Pleasant Grove First Ward. Survivors include his widow of Pleasant Grove, three sons and one daughter, John O., Tucson, Ariz.; David O., Salt Lake City; Daniel Hawley and Mary Ethel Bourne, Pleasant Grove; one grandchild; one brother and two sisters, G. Ernest Ern-est Bourne, Salt Lake City; Mrs Margaret Pistante, Hayward, Calif.; Dr. Joan Glad, Orange, Calif. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded. |
