Show ALPINE HEWS Mrs. L. Bates, Reporter. Miss .Mary Healey left Tuesday of hint week for Long Beach, California, where she will spend the winter with her Uncle and Aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Jones. The Laughters of the Pioneers held their regular monthly meeting Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. S. O. Strong. A sketch of the livea of her grandfather and grandmother, Mr. and Mrs. John Devey was read by Mrs. C rover Clark, a reading was given by Miss Eiilala Smith of Lehi. Special guests were: Mrs. John Devey, Mrs. S. Hutchings and 'Mrs. Hyrum Smith and daughter Eulala of Lehi. Following the program, which was under the direction of Captain Cello Clark, the time was spent in social chat and a delicious lunch was served by Mrs. S. U. Strong and Mrs. Grover Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Alma Hammett visited visit-ed with Mr. JIammett's father at the L. D. S. Hospital Sunday afternoon. They found his condition slightly improved im-proved although he is still very weak. Mrs. Benjamin Bates, Mrs. Leonard Bates, Mrs. Madolene Wilkin and Mr. Ruflsell Bates and daughter, Dolores, visited Sunday afternoon with 'MrB. Thomas B. Smith at the Holy Cross Hospital where she underwent an operation a few days previously. Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Healey and daughter, Marie, expect to leave Friday Fri-day for Los Angeles, where they will mako their home for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hunter of Bingham, Bing-ham, were Sunday guests of Mr. Hunter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hunter. Mrs. Ralph Smith entertained the Happy Dozen at her home Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon after the usual activities activit-ies a dainty lunch was served. The new bridge which has recently been built over Dry Creek will be a big improvement to lower Main street and will be ready for use the first of the week. During its construction a detour has been made through the creek and west one block. Jared Keller had the contract for its construction con-struction which is of concrete reinforced rein-forced with iron. i President C. E. Young was the speaker at the sacrament meeting Sunday evening. The many friends' of Mrs. W. B. Smith will be pleased to learn that she is able to sit up after many weeks of' illness following an operation for gall .stones. |
